The Odyssey’s historical IMAX 70mm list covers venues in seven countries, but it is not a live schedule. The film is reported to return to select IMAX theaters on October 9, 2026; that announcement does not identify locations or confirm which will project a 70mm film print. Check a theater’s current listing for “IMAX 70mm” or “15/70” and confirm the date and tickets directly before making plans.
What “IMAX 70mm” means for this list
The historical roster below is for 15/70 IMAX film presentations: 70mm film running through an IMAX projector with 15 perforations per frame. It is not interchangeable with conventional 5/70 film or with digital IMAX. The specialist reference identifies the 15/70 prints as using IMAX audio and a 1.43:1 aspect ratio; it lists 5/70 prints as using DTS audio and a 2.20:1 aspect ratio. A listing that says only “70mm” does not establish that the screening is IMAX 70mm.
These distinctions come from in70mm.com’s historical presentation reference. Check the wording on the theater’s own event page when choosing a screening.

These are venues identified by in70mm.com as part of the film’s original 15/70 engagement. Treat them as historical venues, not as confirmed locations for the October 2026 return or as a current showtime list.

Is The Odyssey returning to IMAX in October 2026?
GamesRadar+ reported on October 7, 2026, that the official film account announced a return to “select IMAX theaters” beginning October 9. The report does not name participating theaters or say whether each location will use a 15/70 film print. The announcement therefore cannot confirm that any particular historical venue is part of the return.

There are venue-specific indications, but they are not a complete roster: the BFI event page describes IMAX 70mm screenings, and IMAX Melbourne’s event page showed an October 9 date when accessed October 8. Check those pages for current dates and ticket availability; do not infer participation elsewhere from the historical list.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to verify a screening before you travel
- Open the theater’s own current schedule or event page and search for The Odyssey.
- Look for the exact format label “IMAX 70mm” or “15/70.” “IMAX” alone can refer to a digital presentation, while “70mm” alone does not establish IMAX 70mm.
- Confirm the screening date and remaining ticket availability directly with the venue before booking travel.
- Compare options by format, date and ticket inventory, then check actual route distance rather than relying on a straight-line map measurement.
The independent fan guide Where’s The Odyssey showing on IMAX 70mm film? can help with U.S. geography, but it is not an official theater roster. Its map covers the lower 48 states and Washington, D.C.; its distance measurements are straight-line, and its screening estimate is based mostly on Saturday, August 8, 2026 schedules. It warns that participation and showtimes can change, so verify any candidate with the theater. Its coverage and methodology are separate from IMAX Corporation’s release-era statement that 41 locations worldwide offered the film’s 18K IMAX 70mm presentation; neither figure is a current October 2026 count.
