Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland
Gabriel Basso returns as Peter Sutherland, the former low-level FBI agent who became a hero during Season 1 after answering the Night Action telephone in the White House basement.
Season 2 moves Peter out of that introductory role and into field work. He is now a rookie Night Agent undertaking a dangerous mission in Thailand while trying to establish himself within the secretive Night Action program. His central problem has changed, too: Peter is no longer simply trying to uncover a conspiracy. He must decide which people inside the intelligence system can be trusted, while his instinct to act independently repeatedly puts him at odds with his handlers.

Netflix’s Season 2 character guide describes Peter as a former FBI agent who protected Rose in the first season and is pulled into a new Night Action operation.
Luciane Buchanan as Rose Larkin
Luciane Buchanan reprises her role as Rose Larkin, Peter’s ally and love interest. Rose has spent the period after the Season 1 conspiracy moving toward a technology-focused career, but her connection to Peter draws her back into danger when he needs her expertise and support.
The new season resumes Rose’s story approximately 10 months after the Season 1 finale. Her relationship with Peter remains important, but Season 2 also gives her a more practical role in the investigation rather than treating her only as someone Peter must protect.
Robert Patrick as Jamie Hawkins
Robert Patrick makes a limited return as Jamie Hawkins, the gruff FBI director seen in Season 1. Hawkins is not part of the continuing field team in the same way as Peter and Rose. His Season 2 appearance is brief, but it supplies useful background by revealing a connection between Night Action handler Catherine Weaver and Peter’s father, Peter Sutherland Sr.

New The Night Agent Season 2 cast and characters
Season 2 replaces much of the first season’s supporting ensemble with a new operational and political network. These are the principal new characters and the actors who play them.
Amanda Warren as Catherine Weaver
Amanda Warren plays Catherine Weaver, a veteran Night Action agent who becomes Peter’s trainer and supervisor. Catherine is private, determined and protective of the agents under her authority. She is also wary of Peter’s tendency to ignore procedure and operate outside the rules.
Her experience makes her one of the season’s key guides to how Night Action works beyond the White House hotline introduced in Season 1. Her history also connects to Peter’s family in a way that expands the show’s mythology.
Arienne Mandi as Noor Taheri
Arienne Mandi plays Noor Taheri, a low-level aide at the Iranian mission to the United Nations in New York. Noor tries to use her access to sensitive information to secure a better future for herself and her family.
That goal puts her under intense moral and political pressure. She becomes an important source of intelligence and an uneasy ally as the investigation reaches into the Iranian mission.
Louis Herthum as Jacob Monroe
Louis Herthum plays Jacob Monroe, an international businessman and intelligence broker with powerful connections around the world. Monroe buys, trades and exploits information, making him one of the season’s most consequential power brokers.

- Factory sealed DVD
Unlike a conventional field operative, Monroe’s influence comes from the network he controls. He can connect governments, private interests and covert actors, which makes it difficult for Peter and the Night Action team to determine whether he is an enemy, an asset or both.
Berto Colon as Solomon
Berto Colon plays Solomon, a former Marine who works as the right-hand man and fixer for a powerful businessman. Solomon operates in Jacob Monroe’s orbit and brings military experience, discipline and practical force to Monroe’s operations.

Javad’s position places him directly in the path of Noor’s attempts to use sensitive information. He represents the institutional pressure surrounding the mission and the people inside it.

Who is not returning as a continuing Season 2 regular?
Season 2 is designed as a major reset around Peter’s new career in Night Action. Peter and Rose remain the emotional center, and Hawkins appears briefly, but the season does not bring back the entire Season 1 ensemble as an ongoing team. Instead, it builds a new group around Catherine Weaver, Noor, Alice, Warren and the international players connected to Monroe, the Iranian mission and the Bala family.
Spoilers: Alice’s fate and the Season 2 conspiracy
The following section discusses major Season 2 plot developments, including Alice’s death, the Foxglove program and the finale.
What happens to Alice?
Alice’s death in Thailand becomes one of the first major turning points of Season 2. Because Alice is Peter’s partner and mentor on his first Night Action mission, her death is not an isolated tragedy: it pushes Peter to investigate whether there was a leak or a broader conspiracy behind the operation.
That investigation helps move Peter from trainee to independent investigator. It also reinforces one of the season’s main themes: the danger may come not only from foreign adversaries, but from compromised information and competing agendas within the systems Peter is supposed to serve.

The season’s plot links Night Action to an international conspiracy involving the Iranian mission at the United Nations, the Bala family, Jacob Monroe’s intelligence network, the Foxglove program and a planned KX attack.
Noor’s position at the Iranian mission gives the story an inside perspective on the political pressure surrounding the conspiracy. The Bala family supplies a separate power struggle rooted in Viktor’s dictatorship and war-crimes conviction, while Monroe operates as an information broker whose motives are more complicated than a straightforward villain’s.

Peter, Rose and Catherine gradually have to connect these separate threads while working out whom they can trust. The investigation ultimately brings Peter, Rose, Noor and Catherine together with law-enforcement forces to stop the planned attack.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How Season 2 ends
By the finale, Peter, Rose, Noor and Catherine converge with law-enforcement forces to prevent the KX attack. The immediate threat is stopped, but the ending does not close every door around Jacob Monroe. His position leaves him as a continuing threat—or potentially a useful asset—rather than a problem that has been permanently removed.
The result is an ending that resolves the season’s central operation while preserving room for further Night Action stories.
When did The Night Agent Season 2 premiere?
The Night Agent Season 2 premiered on January 23, 2025, and consists of 10 episodes. All episodes are available on Netflix. For the release announcement and official cast information, see Netflix Tudum’s Season 2 coverage.
Is The Night Agent based on a book?
Yes. The television series is based on The Night Agent: A Novel by Matthew Quirk. The book is the source for the adaptation, but it should not be treated as a novelization of Season 2: the Netflix series develops a continuing serialized story that goes beyond the original novel’s premise.
Readers interested in the adaptation’s literary starting point can look for Matthew Quirk’s The Night Agent novel. It is best approached as the source material for the series, not as a book version of the Season 2 storyline.
