The matching article appeared on September 20, 2021, just before the season premiered. The phrase “has everyone talking” is headline wording, not a measured claim about universal reaction.
Which show and season does the headline mean?
It means Sex Education Season 3. The series follows socially awkward student Otis Milburn, whose mother, Jean, is a sex therapist. After classmate Maeve Wiley recognizes Otis’s knack for giving advice, the two start a clinic at school. The comedy uses that setup to explore adolescent relationships, identity, friendship, and sexual health. BGR’s September 20, 2021 article is the source of the matching headline and Season 3 premise.

What happens in Season 3?
Season 3 opens with Otis having casual sex, while Eric and Adam make their relationship official and Jean expects a baby. At Moordale, new headteacher Hope tries to restore the school’s reputation. The season also follows Aimee discovering feminism, Jackson developing a crush, and an unresolved lost voicemail.
Those threads place the show’s sexual-comedy premise alongside relationship changes and wider questions about growing up. The season’s central developments involve several characters, rather than a single new storyline.

Is Season 3 still the newest season?
No. Netflix announced in 2023 that Season 4 would be the series’ final season. That makes Season 3 a past installment, not the latest release, and Netflix’s announced plan ends with Season 4 rather than a Season 5. Netflix’s 2023 announcement also reported that Season 3 received 66.6 million views in its first 91 days, calculated by dividing 504.9 million viewing hours by the season’s 7.59-hour runtime. Netflix reported that the show won Best Comedy Series at the 50th International Emmy Awards in 2022.
Why did the series end with Season 4?
Creator Laurie Nunn told Netflix Tudum that the decision took shape as the writers worked on Season 4. “It’s the end as we know it,” she said, explaining that “the stories were coming to an end” and that she felt good about where the characters were left. Nunn described the final season’s themes as failure, identity, acceptance, and mental health. Read the Netflix Tudum interview with Nunn.
