Summer 2024 brought major returning dramas, new adaptations and original series, plus documentary and reality releases across streaming, cable and broadcast. This retrospective watchlist covers premieres scheduled from May 30 through August 29, 2024. “Most anticipated” is an editorial selection, not an objective popularity ranking: TIME highlighted 29 shows, while TVLine’s separate summer calendar covered more than 60 season and series premieres.
Why these shows stood out
The season mixed franchise television with adaptations and original concepts. June concentrated several widely discussed returns—The Boys, Bridgerton, House of the Dragon and The Bear—while July and August brought final-season chapters and later releases including Cobra Kai, The Umbrella Academy, Only Murders in the Building and The Rings of Power. The selection below follows TIME’s editorial list and uses the dates reported in 2024, cross-checking several major premieres against TVLine’s calendar.
Services named here describe where programs were announced for release in 2024; they are not claims about present-day catalog availability. This list uses a practical May-through-August window, rather than treating September announcements as summer premieres.

- ABC: The network announced The Bachelorette for July 8, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire for July 10, and new game show Lucky 13 for July 18. Its June 10, 2024 announcement said, “All programming will stream the next day on Hulu.” That was the announced arrangement for this schedule, not a statement about current access.
- CBS: Its announced summer schedule included The Real CSI: Miami on June 26, Tulsa King’s CBS network debut on July 14, Big Brother Season 26 on July 17, and Let’s Make a Deal Primetime on August 7. CBS said those listed shows and specials would be available live and on demand on Paramount+ as part of that schedule.
How to read the dates and scope
These dates are historical premiere listings, not recommendations about where to stream a title now. TIME’s 29-show list and TVLine’s calendar of more than 60 premieres are each publisher’s own editorial coverage, not comparable audience-interest measurements. The list also is not exhaustive of every U.S. or international premiere.
Summer cutoffs differ by calendar. TVLine’s calendar treated September 21 as the end of summer, but its broader listing also included September titles. The Walt Disney Company’s July 11 press-tour announcement, for example, included English Teacher on September 2 and The Old Man Season 2 on September 12; those were later announced premieres, not June–August releases, so they are outside this watchlist.
