The Season 12 finale of The Masked Singer aired on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, on FOX. The Buffalos won the season and were revealed as Boyz II Men, while Wasp finished as runner-up and was revealed as Mario. The “ahead of the finale” framing in the original title no longer applies: the finale aired nearly two years ago, so this is an archival guide to how the season ended.
Season 12 finale results
Only two costumes reached the final, and both reveals are reported in FOX’s recap of the episode.
| Finalist costume | Revealed as | Finale result |
|---|---|---|
| The Buffalos | Boyz II Men | Season 12 winner |
| Wasp | Mario | Runner-up |
Performances and the guest appearance
Nick Lachey’s return
According to FOX’s recap, Nick Lachey, the Season 5 winner, came back to perform “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” The recap does not describe the rest of the guest segment, so treat that performance as the only confirmed guest appearance.
Songs performed by the finalists
The recap names four songs performed by the finalists:
#1 Best Overall
- Find out if your wrestlers are the strongest or the weakest. Deciding which cards to play is not easy. Are you ready to rumble.
- The game is designed by Jun Sasaki who also designed "In A Grove", "Kobayakawa" and "A Fake Artist Goes To New York"
- Age 9
- Playtime 20 mins.
- Players: 2 to 6
- “When I Was Your Man”
- “Somebody That I Used to Know”
- “I’m Your Baby Tonight”
- “Too Good at Goodbyes”
The recap does not match each song to a performer, so the titles should be read as the finale’s song list rather than a per-costume breakdown. Matching them to individual finalists would require the episode itself.
How the format works
FOX’s catalog describes The Masked Singer as a celebrity singing competition in which performers are concealed in elaborate costumes, and viewers guess who is behind each one from clues. The catalog lists Nick Cannon as host, with Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Robin Thicke, and Rita Ora as panelists, and gives Season 12 as 12 episodes.

What is and is not established
- Established by the recap: the December 18, 2024 air date, the Buffalos as winner revealed as Boyz II Men, Wasp as runner-up revealed as Mario, Nick Lachey’s guest performance, and the four song titles.
- Not established: which finalist sang which song.
- Statistics not verified: the recap cites four Grammy Awards for Boyz II Men. That figure was not checked against an awards database, so it is not presented here as a confirmed fact.
- Quotations not used: the recap includes remarks attributed to Mario and to Boyz II Men. The Boyz II Men remark is not assigned to a named member, and neither remark has been checked against a transcript, so neither is quoted here.
