Spoilers for Season 3. Gloria Dayton—also known as Glory Days—was murdered by corrupt DEA agent James De Marco, not by Julian La Cosse. De Marco killed her to stop her from revealing that he had forced her to frame cartel boss Hector Moya. Julian is cleared, but the season ends on a separate shock: Sam Scales’s body is found in the trunk of Mickey Haller’s car.
What happened to Gloria Dayton?
Gloria Dayton, played by Fiona Rene, is Mickey Haller’s former client and friend. The show also calls her Glory Days. In Season 3, she becomes a key witness in a case connected to cartel boss Hector Moya—and a threat to the people who framed him.

Gloria had planted a gun linked to a triple homicide on Moya after James De Marco coerced her into doing it. When Moya’s lawyer subpoenaed Gloria to testify that Moya had been framed, De Marco killed her and set fire to her home. Netflix’s official ending explanation identifies De Marco as her killer.
Who killed Glory Days?
James De Marco killed her. He had worked with the Juárez cartel for more than a decade, according to Netflix’s recap. Gloria’s testimony could expose both his role in framing Moya and his cartel-linked operation, so De Marco silenced her before she could testify.

De Marco later claimed that Gloria was already dead when he arrived at her home and that he set the fire only to erase evidence connecting them. That account comes through Neil Bishop’s testimony: Bishop says De Marco told him this, but Bishop also admits he did not believe him. The recap identifies De Marco as the actual murderer; Bishop’s courtroom account is a secondhand report of De Marco’s denial, not proof that the denial was true.
Did Julian kill Gloria?
No. Julian La Cosse and Gloria were friends. Julian’s work included verifying clients who booked escorts, and he went to see Gloria over a late payment. Their meeting turned heated and Julian grabbed her by the neck, but Netflix’s recap says he left her alive. That confrontation made him look guilty, but he was not her killer.

How did Neil Bishop help De Marco find Gloria?
Bishop, then a private investigator, posed as a client and arranged to meet Gloria. He followed her home and sent De Marco her address. At Julian’s trial, Bishop admits what he did and recounts asking De Marco whether he killed Gloria. De Marco gave the denial Bishop says he did not believe.
Bishop shoots himself on the witness stand after confessing. Showrunner Ted Humphrey said Bishop believed he had to answer for his actions and saw telling the truth as his only possible redemption. Humphrey also said Bishop had made up his mind before testifying, so the scene does not establish that Mickey caused his death. Netflix reports that the courtroom scene took three days to film and involved an estimated 50 takes; that figure is a production anecdote, not a measure of audience response.

How did Mickey prove Julian was innocent?
Bishop’s testimony helps expose the chain of events that led De Marco to Gloria. Julian also survives a stabbing during a prison transfer. Once the charges against him are dropped, Mickey and his associates bring evidence of De Marco’s attacks and corruption to the office of newly appointed district attorney Adam Suarez. They win a settlement, and Julian is freed.
What was in Mickey’s trunk at the end?
Sam Scales’s body. After the case is resolved, Mickey leaves dinner planning to take a vacation. Officers stop him because his Lincoln’s license plate is missing; they then notice what appears to be blood on the rear bumper and discover Scales’s body in the trunk. This is a separate cliffhanger from Gloria’s murder case, setting up a new problem for Mickey rather than changing who killed Gloria.

How Season 3 connects to the novel
Netflix says Season 3 has ten episodes and adapts Michael Connelly’s novel The Gods of Guilt, the fifth book in the Lincoln Lawyer series. The book is an optional companion for readers who want to explore the source material; the fact that the season is based on it does not mean every scene or detail matches the show. Netflix’s Season 3 information gives the adaptation context.
