Who is leading the creative team?
Craig Mazin is reported to be the sole showrunner for season three. Neil Druckmann is stepping back from creative work on the HBO adaptation: GamesRadar reported in September 2026 that Druckmann told The Washington Post he was not involved in shaping the season’s creative direction, and that Naughty Dog had no creative role in its progression. Will season 3 be the final season?
That has not been decided publicly. Teen Vogue reported that Bloys said season three “certainly seems” likely to be the final season, while also noting Mazin’s view that the adaptation could need a fourth.
