The “review bomb hit” report concerned “Day One,” Season 2, Episode 4—not the season’s latest episode today. Insider Gaming reported that viewers posted negative comments and low scores after it aired, but the available evidence does not confirm that the ratings were coordinated or invalid.
Which episode prompted the report?
Insider Gaming’s headline referred to “Day One,” which aired May 4, 2025, as Season 2, Episode 4. The phrase “latest episode” described the timing of that report, not the season’s eventual endpoint. Rotten Tomatoes lists three episodes after “Day One,” ending with Episode 7, “Convergence,” which aired May 25, 2025. Rotten Tomatoes’ Season 2 episode guide provides the ordering and dates.
What does “review bomb” mean here?
Insider Gaming described a wave of negative reactions following “Day One.” The outlet wrote: “Following the release of the most recent episode, Day One, viewers took to social media and ratings platforms to bag on the series and give it shockingly low scores.” That is the report’s characterization of the response; it is not confirmation from a ratings platform.
The sources available do not establish that the low ratings were coordinated, came from inauthentic accounts, or reflected a single motive. A poor rating is not, by itself, proof of review bombing. No stable, independently verified count or percentage establishing the scale of a coordinated response to “Day One” is available here.

Why the reaction should not be reduced to one motive
Season 2 adapts The Last of Us Part II, and critics have differed over its pacing, adaptation choices, focus on characters, and the consequences of its story structure. Rotten Tomatoes’ review roundup collects those critical perspectives. They help explain why the adaptation can prompt disagreement, but they do not establish why any particular viewer rated an episode poorly.
Season-level criticism, episode-level audience ratings, and a claim of coordinated rating activity are separate things. One should not be used as evidence for another without specific supporting records.

What the finale’s Rotten Tomatoes score does—and does not—show
Rotten Tomatoes’ page for “Convergence,” the Season 2 finale, showed a 75% Tomatometer based on 24 critic reviews at the time represented by that page. That is a critic score for Episode 7, not an audience score, not the season’s audience response, and not a score for “Day One.” Scores may change. The page also lists HBO Max as a viewing option; availability depends on territory and can change. See Rotten Tomatoes’ “Convergence” page.
