Do you need to play the game before watching the finale?
No. The television series can be watched without playing the games, and the finale’s viewing schedule does not require knowledge of the source material. Readers who choose to explore the game afterward should be aware that the game story is highly spoiler-sensitive for the HBO adaptation.
Spoiler warning: the game behind Season 2
After finishing the season, interested viewers can explore the game behind Season 2 through The Last of Us Part II Remastered. PlayStation identifies the remastered title as part of the Ellie-and-Abby story connected to the HBO franchise. This is a separate, interactive version of the story—not a requirement for watching the show—and readers who have not completed the adaptation should avoid it if they want to remain completely spoiler-free.
