For U.S. viewers checking in August 2026, a current availability snapshot listed the film on The Roku Channel with ads, as a digital rental or purchase, and on DVD and Blu-ray. Max’s catalog should be checked separately because the film was not listed there in that snapshot.
The Iron Claw did not have an upcoming Max release “next month.” Warner Bros. Discovery announced that Sean Durkin’s wrestling drama began streaming on Max in the United States on Friday, May 10, 2024. Its linear HBO premiere followed on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
If you are looking for the film now, do not assume that an old Max release announcement means it is still included with a Max subscription. A U.S. availability snapshot dated August 12, 2026 listed the movie on The Roku Channel with ads, along with digital rental and purchase options and physical DVD and Blu-ray editions. Streaming rights, prices, stock and regional availability can change, so check the service or retailer immediately before watching.
When did The Iron Claw arrive on Max?
The Iron Claw premiered on Max on May 10, 2024. That date is now historical, so “set for next month” is no longer an accurate description of the release.

Where to watch The Iron Claw in the U.S. now
According to a JustWatch U.S. check performed on August 12, 2026, the clearest current options were:
- Free with ads: The Roku Channel was listed as a streaming option.
- Digital rental: Spectrum On Demand, Amazon Video, Apple TV Store and Fandango At Home were listed as rental services.
- Digital purchase: Amazon Video, Apple TV Store and Fandango At Home were listed as purchase options.
- Physical ownership: DVD and Blu-ray purchase paths were listed through current retail and platform listings.
Max was not listed among the providers in that August 12 snapshot. That does not prove the film can never return to Max; subscription catalogs and licensing agreements change. It does mean that readers should verify the Max catalog directly rather than treating the 2024 announcement as proof of current availability.

Want to own the film?
The strongest physical-media option is The Iron Claw Blu-ray, including the documented Blu-ray/DVD edition with a digital copy. This is a purchase alternative to streaming, not a way to access the film through a Max subscription. Check the exact U.S. listing for current price, stock, format and digital-copy terms before ordering.
What is The Iron Claw about?
The Iron Claw is A24’s 2023 sports drama about the Von Erich family, a real professional-wrestling dynasty whose triumphs and tragedies shaped the sport’s history. The family’s signature iron-claw hold supplies the film with its title and its central wrestling image.
Written and directed by Sean Durkin, the film focuses on the family’s ambitions, relationships and losses rather than presenting a straightforward match-by-match sports biography. It is a dramatization of the Von Erich story, so viewers should not treat every event or characterization as a documentary record.

Cast and runtime
The principal cast includes:
- Zac Efron as Kevin Von Erich
- Jeremy Allen White as Kerry Von Erich
- Harris Dickinson as David Von Erich
- Stanley Simons as Mike Von Erich
- Holt McCallany as Fritz Von Erich
- Maura Tierney as Doris Von Erich
- Lily James as Pam
The film is rated R in the current U.S. availability record. Its runtime can display slightly differently depending on the platform’s metadata: Amazon’s listing shows approximately 2 hours 11 minutes, while other current tracking displays show about 133 minutes. Allow roughly two hours and 15 minutes rather than relying on one platform’s exact label.
Streaming, renting, buying and owning: what is the difference?
A subscription stream, an ad-supported stream, a rental and a purchase are different forms of access:
Recommended Free Tools
- Subscription streaming means the film is included while the service carries it in its catalog. The title may disappear when licensing changes.
- Ad-supported streaming can be free to the viewer but includes advertising and may also be subject to catalog or geographic changes.
- Digital rental normally provides temporary access under the retailer’s viewing terms.
- Digital purchase adds the film to a retailer account, but access still depends on that retailer’s platform and licensing policies.
- Blu-ray or DVD ownership gives you a physical copy and does not require a Max subscription. A listed “digital copy” is a separate redemption benefit whose availability and expiration rules should be checked on the edition you buy.
Prices are especially unreliable across regions and storefronts. An accessed Amazon page displayed rental and purchase pricing in a German-market interface, so those figures should not be reused as U.S. prices. Compare the final price, resolution, subtitles, audio options and expiration terms in your own market.

Collector items connected with the film
For collectors, A24’s official shop has listed a The Iron Claw original motion-picture soundtrack on champion-gold vinyl. The release contains Richard Reed Parry’s original score and “Live That Way Forever,” by Parry and Little Scream.
The same A24 merchandise catalog has also cross-listed a The Iron Claw Kevin Von Erich action figure. These are optional film and wrestling collectibles, not substitutes for a viewing subscription or home-video edition. Inventory, prices and availability are volatile, so verify them at the official shop before making a purchase.
Bottom line
The Iron Claw began streaming on Max on May 10, 2024; it was not an upcoming release for the following month. As of the August 12, 2026 U.S. snapshot, The Roku Channel with ads, digital rental or purchase, and physical DVD/Blu-ray editions were the clearest listed ways to watch or own it. Because providers change, confirm the current listing in your country before subscribing, renting or buying.
