The Hunting Wives returns for Season 2 on November 26, 2026. Creator and showrunner Rebecca Cutter says the new episodes will explore how Sophie and Margo have become more alike, as secrets and new enemies push the estranged women back together.
What is The Hunting Wives Season 2 about?
Netflix’s official logline sets Sophie and Margo “on the outs” at the start of the season. Old secrets and new foes then force them to work together again. The story picks up a few weeks after the Season 1 finale, according to TV Insider’s September 2026 preview.
Cutter has described the central idea as the ways the women have grown alike. “Season 2 really explores the ways in which they’re the same,” she told Harper’s Bazaar in August 2026. Margo is more open about her capacity to do harm; Sophie ends Season 1 having killed Kyle, a fact that leaves her longing for Margo while fearing what her own actions mean.
Cutter had described that tension as a possible story engine in a July 2025 interview with TheWrap, before Netflix had renewed the show. The series is now renewed, and the season’s official premise develops that fraught relationship rather than treating the earlier comments as a confirmed plot outline.

When does Season 2 come out, and how many episodes are there?
Netflix has announced a Season 2 premiere date of November 26, 2026. Harper’s Bazaar reports that the season will have eight episodes.
Why did Netflix renew the series?
Netflix reported that The Hunting Wives drew more than 20 million views during five weeks on the platform’s global English TV Top 10 list. Netflix specified that the series was available only in English during that run; the figure is tied to that five-week Top 10 period, not a lifetime total. The company also reported that May Cobb’s 2021 novel reached No. 4 on Amazon’s bestsellers list and No. 1 in women’s psychological fiction after the show’s release. Does Season 2 follow May Cobb’s book?
No. Season 1 adapted Cobb’s 2021 crime thriller, but Netflix describes Season 2 as an original-script continuation, and TV Insider reports that the show goes off-book. The novel is the source material for the series, not a guide to Season 2’s plot. If you want to read the story that inspired the adaptation, look for May Cobb’s The Hunting Wives; the second season continues the television story.

Rebecca Cutter created the series and serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer. May Cobb, who wrote the source novel, is also an executive producer, according to Netflix’s season guide. Cutter said she was excited to write the characters again and promised another “sexy, twisted, batshit crazy ride through Maple Brook.”
