Joan Vassos was talking about Keith Gordon. On the September 18, 2024 premiere of The Golden Bachelorette, their easy conversation and a game of cornhole led Joan to say she could picture being with him—and she gave him the season’s first-impression rose.
What Joan said about Keith
During their conversation, Joan and Keith talked about family road trips and memories of beach-house stays before playing cornhole. AARP’s September 18, 2024 recap reports Joan saying, “It’s exciting, I can picture being with him.” AARP’s premiere recap

In a longer confessional passage reported by Life & Style, Joan explained that she saw things in common with Keith and was having fun with him. She also imagined him spending time with her friends: “You want to have fun with the person you’re with, and he seems like he’d make life fun.” Life & Style’s recap
Why Keith stood out on night one
The appeal Joan described was not just a promising one-on-one conversation. She was considering whether Keith might fit into her everyday social life, too. Their shared conversation and playful cornhole game gave her an early glimpse of that possibility; it was her first impression, not a prediction of how the relationship would end.

AARP reports that Joan met 24 potential matches during the two-hour premiere and sent six men home at the first rose ceremony. Keith, a 62-year-old single father from San Jose, received her first-impression rose. Joan also responded positively to other men in different ways: she praised Pascal’s accent and Jonathan’s dimple, but her “picture being with him” comment was about Keith.
