Nintendo revealed the final trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie during a dedicated movie Nintendo Direct on March 9, 2026. It offers some repeated footage alongside new visual gags and franchise references, while the accompanying presentation announced additional cast details. The film’s reported U.S. theatrical release date was April 1, 2026.
What does the final trailer show?
The trailer gives viewers more of a sense of the film’s story and a first proper look at Wart, according to Nintendo Life. Engadget’s March 10 coverage notes that much of the ground had already been covered in earlier footage, but the final cut adds quick visual jokes and nods to the games.
One returning character gets a changed role: Lumalee, whose presence in the first film was associated with captivity, appears as a prison guard in the new movie, Engadget reports. The two articles do not provide a frame-by-frame breakdown, so they establish the broad differences rather than an exhaustive list of new shots.
What news came with the trailer?
The March 9 presentation included casting and story updates beyond the trailer itself. Engadget reported Donald Glover as Yoshi, Luis Guzmán as Wart, and Issa Rae as Honey Queen. It also reported that Chris Pratt and Charlie Day confirmed Luigi would be present for the entire adventure.
