What is The Dead Don’t Die about?
In the fictional town of Centerville, a low, large moon, unpredictable daylight and unusual animal behavior signal that something is wrong. The dead begin rising from their graves and attacking the living. The film uses that small-town outbreak as the setting for a zombie comedy-horror story written and directed by Jim Jarmusch. Who is in the cast?
The ensemble includes Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Caleb Landry Jones, Rosie Perez, Iggy Pop, Sara Driver, RZA, Selena Gomez, Carol Kane, Austin Butler, Luka Sabbat and Tom Waits. Joshua Astrachan and Carter Logan produced the film. Focus Features and its interview with prosthetic-effects artists document the production credits and makeup work.
How long is it, and what is its rating?
Listings differ slightly on runtime: Focus Features and Universal Pictures At Home give 1 hour 45 minutes, while the Cannes Film Festival lists 103 minutes. Universal rates it R for zombie violence/gore and language. The runtime difference is small, but the sources do not provide a single consistently stated figure. Focus Features, Universal Pictures At Home and Cannes provide their respective listings.

How did the zombie effects support the comedy?
The makeup team created effects ranging from basic prosthetics to severed-head and corpse details. They differentiated fresh kills from the dusty look of zombies who had turned earlier. Mike Fontaine, the film’s prosthetic makeup supervisor, said the effects were played straight and realistically rather than treated as the source of the jokes: “We let the story and performances set the comic tone.” The comment appears in a June 14, 2019 Focus Features interview with Fontaine and Mike Marino, founder and head designer of Prosthetic Renaissance.
When did it premiere?
Focus Features announced a North American theatrical release for June 14, 2019. The Cannes Film Festival selected the movie as its 2019 opening film and an in-competition feature. Focus Features lists the release date; Cannes records its festival status.

Universal Pictures At Home lists Blu-ray + Digital, DVD and digital purchase or rental.
