The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: Natalia Speaks is a six-part Investigation Discovery follow-up that centers Natalia Grace’s response to accusations made by her adoptive parents, Michael and Kristine Barnett. The series premiered January 1, 2024, and includes a face-to-face conversation between Natalia and Michael. The Barnetts’ claims that Natalia was older than her stated age and had threatened or tried to harm them are allegations; Natalia denied trying to kill anyone.
What is Natalia Speaks about?
The series revisits the dispute surrounding Natalia Grace and the Barnett family, shifting the focus toward Natalia’s account. The original The Curious Case of Natalia Grace featured the Barnetts’ perspectives; this follow-up gives Natalia room to answer the accusations and includes an extended conversation with Michael Barnett. The Barnetts alleged that Natalia was older than the age recorded when they adopted her in 2010, and accused her of threats and attempts to harm them, including attempted poisoning. Natalia said she was a child when adopted and denied trying to murder members of the family. She also alleged mistreatment by the Barnetts, who disputed her account. These are competing claims presented in the documentary, not findings established by the series itself.
What happened in the legal cases?
Reporting on the case says the Barnetts petitioned to change Natalia’s legal age after adopting her, and later moved to Canada while Natalia remained in Indiana. Michael Barnett was acquitted of neglect charges in October 2022. The case against Kristine Barnett was dismissed in March 2023. Those procedural outcomes do not resolve every factual allegation presented in the documentary.

Natalia Speaks premiered on Investigation Discovery on January 1, 2024, as a six-part series. Where it can be streamed now depends on country and distributor, and the available reporting does not establish current catalog listings. Global News reported in January 2024 that it was available through select on-demand platforms in Canada at that time; that dated report is not confirmation of present availability.
