Who played the central couple?

In a report published January 27, 2026, CinemaBlend reported that Grey would reprise Baby and executive produce a sequel. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson were reported as producers, with Kim Rosenstock writing. The report did not give a release date, so the project should not be mistaken for a film with a confirmed premiere.
Grey’s memoir, Out of the Corner, offers her own perspective on her career and the film’s era; it was published by Ballantine Books on May 2, 2023. The publisher’s listing identifies the book and its publication details.

- Baby is becoming a young woman in the summer where she meets Johnny Castle who teaches dance at a family Summer Camp and in his off hours Dirty Dances with the other dancers. She learns a routine so that one of the women can recover from an abortion and becomes Johnny's lover. As the summer winds down, Each must come to grips with responsibility and love and others' expectations.
Patrick Swayze as Johnny Castle
Swayze went on to star in films including Ghost, Road House and Point Break. He died in 2009, aged 57, after pancreatic cancer, according to the TV Guide UK overview.
What happened to Baby’s family and Penny?
Cynthia Rhodes as Penny Johnson
Before Dirty Dancing, Rhodes appeared in Flashdance, Staying Alive and Runaway. She had another film appearance in 1991, then later fronted the band Animotion. The available cast account does not establish a current location or a more recent acting career, so it is more accurate to say she largely stepped away from acting than to speculate about her private life.
