The five stars of The Breakfast Club reunited at Chicago’s C2E2 on April 12, 2025, for the film’s 40th anniversary. Since the 1985 coming-of-age drama, Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estévez, Ally Sheedy, Judd Nelson and Anthony Michael Hall have taken different paths in film, television, teaching and voice work. The latest specific updates gathered here come from an August 2026 cast roundup, so those developments are attributed and dated.
Who was in The Breakfast Club?
Released on February 15, 1985, The Breakfast Club follows five teenagers serving Saturday detention at a Chicago high school. Its principal cast played the students whose clashing reputations and personalities shape the story:
- Molly Ringwald as Claire Standish
- Emilio Estévez as Andrew Clark
- Ally Sheedy as Allison Reynolds
- Judd Nelson as John Bender
- Anthony Michael Hall as Brian Johnson
The film’s anniversary brought the five actors together again at C2E2 in Chicago on April 12, 2025. Good Morning America’s report says they discussed the movie and their memories of working with director John Hughes. Ringwald said, “I feel really very emotional and moved to have us all together.” Estévez said, “This just was something that, finally, I felt I needed to do, just for myself.” The reunion was a rare full-group gathering, not evidence that the actors had remained in constant contact.
Where are The Breakfast Club actors now?
The following updates reflect an August 28, 2026, cast roundup. Its claims are secondary reporting and were not independently confirmed here against first-party project or institutional sources.

Molly Ringwald
The roundup reports that Ringwald had two films out in 2026: Run Amok and One Night Only. That is a dated report; release dates and distribution details were not confirmed here. The List’s August 2026 roundup is the source for this update.
Emilio Estévez
The roundup reports that Estévez was writing and directing Young Guns 3: Dead or Alive and would return as Billy the Kid. It describes a project in development or production, not a completed or released film. The List reports the project.

Anthony Michael Hall
The roundup reports recent roles for Hall in Reacher and Wednesday. A separate report updated August 17, 2026, says he made a cameo in Wednesday in 2026. Hall described his career as 51 years long in that report; that is his own characterization, not an independently compiled career statistic. The Daily Beast/Looker report provides the additional account of the cameo and his comment.
How their careers have taken different directions
The reported updates point to distinct kinds of work rather than a meaningful ranking of the five actors. Ringwald’s update centers on film roles; Estévez’s on writing and directing; Sheedy’s on teaching; Hall’s on recent screen appearances; and Nelson’s on independent films and voice work. The available reporting does not support ranking them by success, workload, income or fame.
