Amazon says the fifth season was the show’s last, while the officially announced Vought Rising is planned for 2027. Eric Kripke has also discussed possible post-finale stories—but those pitches are not confirmed series. The Boys: Mexico was reported in development in 2025, though its current status and release date remain unclear.
What happens after The Boys Season 5?
The flagship series concluded with its fifth and final season in May 2026, according to Amazon’s franchise page. That ends the main show, not necessarily the broader franchise. The clearest next installment is Vought Rising, a confirmed prequel planned for 2027. Kripke has described other possible stories set after the finale, but they remain ideas rather than announced shows.
That distinction matters: a creator’s interest or a writers’ room pitch is not a renewal or production order. There is no announced The Boys Season 6 in the available official information.
What is confirmed: Vought Rising
Amazon describes Vought Rising as a 1950s-set prequel about the origins of Vought International. It is planned for Prime Video in 2027, but Amazon has not announced a specific premiere date. The service says the series is planned to be available in more than 240 countries and territories; actual availability can vary by location.

Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash lead the cast. Paul Grellong is showrunner, and Kripke is among the executive producers. The creative team has described it as a murder mystery involving the early exploits of Soldier Boy and the character fans know as Stormfront.
What Kripke means by possible post-finale stories
Kripke has pointed to a potential setting created by the events of the finale: Vought disavows some Supes, leaving them without the corporation’s protection and support. He told TV Insider that this could leave powerful people outside the structures that once controlled or supported them, calling them “almost like loose nukes.”

He also said senior writers from The Boys, Gen V and Vought Rising had pitched a couple of promising ideas. Kripke said he would want any future project to be distinct from The Boys and driven by its creator’s passion. Those comments describe a creative direction, not a formal slate of new series.
Is The Boys: Mexico still happening?
The project has been discussed separately from Kripke’s more general spin-off ideas. In October 2025, Kripke told TheWrap that The Boys: Mexico was in development and that a pilot script was being written. After the finale, he told Rolling Stone that the planned series would take place after those events.

Those reports establish development context and the intended timeline, but they do not establish the project’s current production status or a release date. It is more accurate to call it a reported, planned spin-off than to present it as a dated upcoming series.
Will Gen V return?
Gen V was canceled after two seasons, as TV Insider reported on May 20, 2026. Kripke has discussed what he would have explored in a hypothetical third season and said he hopes some characters can continue in other stories. Neither statement announces a revival or a third season.
