What was most watched across U.S. streaming?
Nielsen’s latest accessible overall chart ranks titles by total minutes viewed by people aged 2 and older. For the week of September 14–20, 2026, the top series were:

What do the latest service charts say?
These are separate snapshots, not a unified ranking. Netflix and Prime Video positions below are U.S. Top 10 placements reported on the dates shown; Amazon’s own weekly list is worldwide and uses a different measure.

Amazon notes that its worldwide weekly series order differs from the shorter-period, country-specific list in the Prime Video app. A No. 1 on one of these charts therefore cannot be treated as equivalent to a No. 1 on another.
What is trending on Hulu, Apple TV+ and Max?
The Nielsen week available here is September 14–20, not an October 8 live service ranking. Its provider tables show several notable titles across these services:

- Hulu: The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and Grey’s Anatomy appeared in Nielsen’s service/provider tables. The reality series also placed tenth among Nielsen’s originals, with 360 million U.S. viewing minutes that week.
- Apple TV+: Ted Lasso appeared in the provider tables and ranked fifth among Nielsen originals, with 767 million minutes.
- Max: The Big Bang Theory and Lanterns appeared in the provider tables. The Big Bang Theory led acquired titles with 950 million minutes; Lanterns placed seventh among acquired titles with 534 million.
These placements come from Nielsen’s September 14–20 charts; they are not evidence of each service’s current October Top 10. The available chart information does not establish a comparable October 8 position for Hulu, Apple TV+ or Max.
How to choose what to watch
A popularity chart is a useful starting point, but it does not tell you whether a show suits your mood or how much time it will take. Consider the genre and the viewing commitment, then check the catalog in your region before subscribing or settling in.

- For action and crime: Neagley is the current leader in the cited Prime Video U.S. snapshot and Nielsen week; Reacher also ranked third in Nielsen’s overall chart. Nielsen counted eight episodes for Neagley and 32 for Reacher during its measurement week.
- For a period drama: Netflix’s October 6 snapshot put East of Eden at No. 1. Tom’s Guide describes the adaptation as seven parts, a shorter defined commitment than a long-running catalog series.
- For reality TV: The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was among Hulu’s Nielsen placements and ranked tenth among originals for the measured week.
- For a familiar comedy or a long catalog: The Big Bang Theory led Nielsen’s acquired-title chart, while Ted Lasso was among its originals leaders. Their overall-chart episode counts—281 and 41 respectively—show the very different library sizes behind those viewing-minute totals.
For a daily alternative, JustWatch’s U.S. show chart was updated October 8, 2026. JustWatch says it collects data from more than 50 million movie and TV fans monthly; its ranking is an audience-interest signal, not audited viewing minutes or a platform account count. Nielsen describes its streaming rankings as “Ranked by total minutes viewed by persons 2+.” Its charts cover U.S. viewing and distinguish originals from acquired titles; its measurement description also notes that streaming viewing data extend beyond the providers listed in its platform tables. Amazon’s weekly list instead counts worldwide Prime Video accounts that watched each series, including any available season. Netflix and Prime Video app Top 10s are snapshots bounded by service, country and date, while JustWatch reflects activity from its own audience.

Those methods answer related but different questions. Nielsen’s minutes make library size and repeat viewing visible; service Top 10s provide a timely look at a platform’s own chart; third-party interest lists offer another signal. None establishes a definitive order for every show on every service, and rankings or availability can change quickly. Check your local service catalog and plan before watching.
