Spike Lee’s watch also has a two-color bezel, while the distinction between his outfit’s tribute and the watch itself is worth keeping clear.
Dress watches and formal styling
Omar Sharif Jr.’s steel Bulgari-Bulgari chronograph and Alfie Allen’s blue-dial De Ville Prestige illustrate two different ways to keep a watch suited to evening dress: a compact-looking steel chronograph or a classic dial without leaning on a sports-watch aesthetic. Rami Malek’s gold Pasha adds contrast to an otherwise black tuxedo.

Vintage, limited-edition and specific references
The two reported Daytona 6263s are vintage watches, not evidence that this reference is currently available new. Isaac’s Speedmaster is a named 50th-anniversary limited edition; the reports establish the identification, not current inventory. Jost’s Monaco is described consistently as blue-dial, though the sources differ in how specifically they label its configuration.
Where the identifications are uncertain
- Taika Waititi’s Panerai: WatchPro says it is assumed to be a blue-dial Luminor Due, while Hodinkee identifies a PAM 728. Because the reports do not agree on the model label, the careful description is simply a Panerai unless a reader independently assesses the photograph.
- Elton John’s possible Franck Muller: WatchPro said it was still trying to confirm the identification and could not find the exact example. It should not be treated as a confirmed watch in a definitive list.
- Timothée Chalamet’s Rolex: The likely Day-Date identification comes with explicit qualification from Hodinkee, rather than certainty about the model.
What Rolex’s Oscars sponsorship does—and does not—show
In its 2020 media note, Rolex said it had been the Academy’s “Exclusive Watch” and a sponsor of the Oscars since 2017. That establishes the brand’s own stated event relationship, not a reason for any particular attendee’s watch choice. Sponsorship alone does not prove that a celebrity wore a Rolex because of a brand arrangement.
