Lockhart’s bestselling novel, released all at once for an easy weekend binge. The month’s other notable additions covered action thrillers, Korean fantasy romance, Japanese revenge drama, true crime, food television, and a major returning season of The Chosen.
This is a retrospective guide to the U.S. June 2025 schedule. Release dates and availability can differ outside the United States, and “best” is an editorial ranking based on premise, distinctiveness, accessibility, and audience fit—not a claim about a universal score.

The list focuses on television series, new seasons, docuseries, and newly added scripted series. June films—including Deep Cover—are not included in the rankings.
1. We Were Liars is June’s best one-weekend binge
Released June 18, 2025; eight episodes, all available at once.
#1 Best Overall
The clearest top pick was We Were Liars, the new series adaptation of E. Lockhart’s bestselling YA novel. It follows Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her close friends—the group known as the “Liars”—during summers on her wealthy grandfather’s private New England island. After a mysterious accident, Cadence is left with missing memories and an unsettling feeling that her family and friends are concealing the truth.
That combination gives the series an immediate binge hook: an isolated setting, a privileged family full of secrets, an unreliable perspective, and a central mystery that unfolds over eight episodes. Viewers who want to compare the adaptation with the original We Were Liars book have a natural companion read, although it is best to approach the series without searching for explanations of its central twist first.
Watch it if you like: coming-of-age mysteries, wealthy-family dramas, unreliable memories, ensemble teen stories, and book-to-screen adaptations.
Why it ranks first: It was a genuinely new scripted series rather than a library acquisition or returning season, and its complete-season release made it the month’s most straightforward binge recommendation.
2. Countdown was the month’s big action-thriller launch
Premiere June 25, 2025; three episodes at launch, followed by weekly episodes through the September 3 finale.
Jensen Ackles leads Countdown as LAPD detective Mark Meachum, who is recruited into a secret task force after a Homeland Security officer is murdered in public. What begins as a specialized investigation develops into a conspiracy with consequences for Los Angeles.
This was the June choice for viewers looking for a new, muscular action series in the general audience lane of Reacher, The Terminal List, or Jack Ryan. Those comparisons describe likely audience appeal, not a shared universe or direct connection.
The release strategy matters. Countdown was not an eight-episode binge: Prime Video began with three episodes and then shifted to a weekly schedule. That makes it better suited to viewers who enjoy following a conspiracy over several weeks than to anyone looking for a complete story in one sitting.
Rank #2
Watch it if you like: Jensen Ackles, police procedurals, secret task forces, military-adjacent thrillers, and escalating conspiracies.
3. Head Over Heels offered June’s most unusual genre mix
Released June 23, 2025; weekly episodes.
This Korean fantasy romance centers on a high-school student who lives as a shamaness by night and can foresee the death of an unlucky transfer student. When she falls for him, her supernatural ability becomes a race to change his fate.
The premise places romance, high-school drama, folklore, and a life-or-death prediction in the same story. It also made Head Over Heels a useful counterpoint to Prime Video’s more familiar American action offerings. The weekly schedule gave the relationship and supernatural mystery room to develop over time rather than presenting the whole story as an immediate binge.
It should be described as a fantasy-romance series available on Prime Video, not automatically as an Amazon Original. The schedule identifies its availability on the service but does not, by itself, establish that label.
Watch it if you like: K-dramas, supernatural romance, school-set fantasy, fate-changing stories, and emotionally heightened young-adult drama.
4. The Chosen: Last Supper was June’s major returning-season event
Released June 15, 2025; Season 5, eight episodes distributed in three parts.
The Chosen: Last Supper was not a new series premiere. It was the fifth season of the returning historical faith-based drama. The season focuses on Jesus sharing his final meal with his closest followers while religious leaders work to suppress his growing influence.
For existing viewers, the arrival of all eight episodes represented the month’s most substantial returning-series event. The three-part rollout was also an important practical detail: the season was spread across three releases rather than made available as a conventional complete-season drop.

New viewers should begin with the earlier seasons rather than treating Last Supper as a standalone June premiere. The season’s appeal depends heavily on the relationships and story history established before Season 5.
5. ROMCON: Who the F**k Is Jason Porter? examined a romance scam
Released June 13, 2025; two-part documentary series.
This documentary investigates a Toronto romance scam involving Heather Rovet, who believed she had spent three years in a relationship with a charismatic handyman before discovering that he was actually Jason Porter, a convicted criminal with a history of romantic deception. The series follows victims and the effort to bring Porter to justice.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe subject makes this one of June’s most unsettling documentary additions, particularly for viewers interested in how romance scams combine emotional manipulation, deception, and potential financial exploitation. Because the story involves real people and alleged wrongdoing, it is better approached as an investigation into victims’ experiences and accountability than as sensational entertainment.
The title contains profanity; publications may choose to reproduce it as listed by Prime Video or partially censor it according to house style.

Other shows added during June
Giada in My Kitchen
Released June 23, 2025. Giada De Laurentiis partners with designer Erick Garcia to surprise a deserving family with a kitchen renovation. This is a lifestyle and home-makeover series rather than a scripted drama, making it a better fit for viewers who want cooking, design, and a feel-good transformation.
Infiltrada en el búnker
Released June 27, 2025. Directed by Pablo de la Chica, this documentary thriller uses hidden-camera footage to examine allegations and debate surrounding the use of animals in scientific experimentation. The Spanish title is retained here because it is the listed title; English-language readers should expect an investigative documentary rather than a fictional thriller.
June 29 library additions: notable, but not new 2025 premieres
Prime Video also added earlier seasons of several Korean series on June 29: Another Miss Oh, Her Private Life, Melting Me Softly, Military Prosecutor Doberman, Mouse, The Heavenly Idol, The Killer’s Shopping List, and Touch Your Heart.
