The Bad Guys 2 sends its reformed animal outlaws back into a heist after they fail to win the public’s trust. The official premise introduces a new crew, the Bad Girls, who mastermind a globe-trotting job that pulls the former criminals into action again.
What happens in The Bad Guys 2?
The Bad Guys are trying to leave crime behind, but their past makes it difficult to convince society they have changed. As NBCUniversal’s CinemaCon 2025 report describes, the crew has repeatedly robbed society and now struggles to earn its trust.
The official synopsis says the reformed group is hijacked into a high-stakes, globe-trotting heist masterminded by the Bad Girls, a new team of criminals. That sets up the sequel’s central tension: the Bad Guys want to be good, but a new criminal operation pulls them back into a job.
Who are the Bad Girls?
The Bad Girls are the new crew behind the heist. The official materials establish their role as its masterminds, but do not provide a verified scene-by-scene account of the first trailer or a detailed breakdown of the new group’s members.

How is the film connected to the books?
The film is based on Aaron Blabey’s children’s graphic novel series. DreamWorks’ official movie site reports that sales of the series grew from 8 million copies to more than 30 million since the first film’s 2022 release. That is a studio-published franchise figure, not an independently audited sales result: DreamWorks’ The Bad Guys 2 site.
