Early life, family, and education
Graziadei was raised in Pennsylvania and has two sisters, Carly and Ellie. His parents divorced when he was young after his father came out as gay. Graziadei discussed the family history during his time on The Bachelorette, explaining that he had spoken with his father before sharing the story on television.
He attended West Chester University, where he played men’s tennis. The school’s athletics roster lists him as a senior during the 2016–17 season. His college tennis record helps explain his later career, but it does not establish him as an ATP touring professional.
Was Joey Graziadei a professional tennis player?
Before television, Graziadei worked as a teaching tennis professional and coach. ABC described him as a teaching tennis pro, and reports have connected him with tennis and golf resorts in Hawaii, including the Club at Kukuiʻula in Koloa.
The most accurate descriptions are teaching tennis professional, tennis coach, or tennis pro. Calling him a professional tennis player without qualification can suggest a touring career that the available records do not support.

His time on The Bachelorette
Graziadei joined season 20 of The Bachelorette, which starred Charity Lawson. He advanced to the final two alongside Dotun Olubeko. Lawson ultimately chose Olubeko, leaving Graziadei without the relationship he had hoped to build on the show.
Although he did not win, Graziadei’s run made him a leading candidate for the franchise’s next Bachelor. ABC confirmed his casting at the August 21, 2023 live finale.
The Bachelor season 28
Season 28 of The Bachelor premiered in January 2024, with Graziadei meeting 32 women competing for his attention. The finale aired on March 25, 2024, and ended with Graziadei choosing Kelsey Anderson, a project manager from New Orleans, Louisiana.
The season included a proposal, but the dates can be confusing. The engagement was filmed in November 2023 and broadcast several months later, during the March 25, 2024 finale. Therefore, saying that Graziadei and Anderson first became engaged on the night the finale aired is technically inaccurate: that was the television broadcast date, not the proposal date.
