Joey Graziadei feared Kelsey Anderson’s “We need to talk” note meant she was about to leave him. Kelsey meant to tell him she missed him and wanted to meet his family. Their conversation, shown on the March 18, 2024, The Bachelor Women Tell All, cleared up the misunderstanding; Joey still gave Kelsey a rose, advancing her alongside Daisy Kent.

Why did Kelsey leave Joey a note?

At the end of the March 11, 2024 episode, in Tulum after the fantasy-suite dates, Kelsey left Joey a note reading, “We need to talk.” That episode ended before they discussed it. The conversation returned in the March 18 Women Tell All episode.

In the exchange, Kelsey said she had promised Joey honesty and wanted to tell him she missed him while they were apart. She also wanted to meet his family. ABC7’s recap says Kelsey wrote the note after talking with Leslie, who advised her to be confident while keeping in mind that Joey might not choose her. That context is attributed to ABC7’s account.

What did Kelsey mean by the note?

She was not telling Joey she planned to leave. She meant to share that she missed him and wanted to meet his family. The brief wording, however, sounded ominous to Joey, who said he thought she might be ending things.

Us Weekly reported that Joey had told Kelsey his biggest fear was choosing someone who did not feel the same way, and that he sometimes held back to protect himself. He said he struggled to take in what she was telling him because he was caught up in the possibility she might leave. His own description of his reaction was: “When I do get to that point of thinking something so bad can happen, I shut down.”

Why did Joey look like he was about to cry?

Joey’s visible distress followed from the fear he described: he heard “We need to talk” as a possible sign of rejection before he understood Kelsey’s intent. Kelsey told ABC cameras, “he looks like he’s about to cry,” and said she had not meant to scare or stress him. She also said, “I want him to feel excited to see me.”

Joey later described the note as a misunderstanding, saying, “I don’t like that I got that [way] off of simple words that meant nothing.” These quotations are reported in Us Weekly’s recap; they are not independently verified against an episode transcript.
