In The Acolyte episode 6, “Teach / Corrupt,” Qimir tries to draw Osha toward his cause. That makes him a dark-side recruiter in the scene—not a newly revealed Darth Vader. Calling him “the High Republic’s Darth Vader” is a thematic comparison, not an identity or title established by the story.
What happens at the end of “Teach / Corrupt”?
Season 1, episode 6, titled “Teach / Corrupt,” was released July 2, 2024. In its closing movement, the Stranger—Qimir—begins explaining his philosophy to Osha and attempts to seduce her to his cause. The official episode guide frames the encounter as an effort to educate Osha and draw her in.
The scene shifts the immediate question from who Qimir is to whether Osha will accept his account of himself and the Force. His offer is a recruitment attempt, not proof that Osha has joined him or that she has become a Sith.
Why compare Qimir to Darth Vader?
The comparison works as shorthand for a dark-side figure attempting to shape another person. Vader is a later Star Wars figure associated with power, menace, and a consequential turn toward the dark side; Qimir’s scene with Osha invites a similar broad idea of temptation and recruitment. But that is an interpretation of the dynamic, not a direct equivalence.

| Question | What episode 6 establishes |
|---|---|
| Is Qimir a dark-side threat? | StarWars.com describes Qimir, also known as the Stranger, as secretly training Mae and aligned with the dark side. The episode places him in a recruiting conversation with Osha. |
| Is he literally Darth Vader? | No. The official episode guide and Qimir Databank entry do not identify him as Vader or give him that title. |
| Does Osha become his apprentice in this episode? | The guide supports an attempt to draw her to his cause; it does not establish that she accepts or completes an apprenticeship. |
Qimir’s official Databank entry provides the broader character context: Qimir has been secretly training Mae and is connected to the dark side. That makes the recruitment reading grounded in the series’ framing, while the Vader label remains an editorial analogy.
What does the title “Teach / Corrupt” suggest?
The paired title captures the ambiguity of Qimir’s approach. He presents himself as a teacher offering Osha a way to understand power and choice; the episode guide, by contrast, describes his aim as drawing her to his cause. The tension between those descriptions is central to the scene: instruction can be framed as liberation by the person offering it and as corruption by those who oppose it.

That moral ambiguity fits creator and showrunner Leslye Headland’s stated approach. In an official StarWars.com feature, Headland said, “It felt important to me that if we were telling a story about how the bad guys don’t necessarily see themselves as bad, but actually can find a lot of justification for why their actions are good,” and described the show’s theme as “duality and reflection.” She also said, “I don’t see the Jedi as antagonists.” These are comments on the show’s framing, not a definitive ruling on Qimir’s claims or the Jedi’s actions in this scene.
Is Darth Plagueis part of episode 6’s reveal?
The episode 6 evidence does not establish a Plagueis reveal. Plagueis is relevant to the wider High Republic-era backdrop, but should not be folded into what this particular ending shows. The official Darth Plagueis Databank entry says he was already working against the Jedi in the High Republic and was later killed by his apprentice, Sheev Palpatine. That supports the idea of a broader Sith shadow across the era; it does not make Qimir Plagueis, nor does it show that Plagueis is directing the events of “Teach / Corrupt.”

Where does the episode sit in Star Wars history?
The Acolyte premiered on Disney+ on June 4, 2024, and is set in the final years of the High Republic, about 100 years before The Phantom Menace, according to Lucasfilm’s series description. Episode 6 therefore takes place well before the prequel-era characters and events most viewers associate with Vader.
The series also brings High Republic-era characters and details from Star Wars publishing into live action. Vernestra Rwoh’s hyperspace sensitivity and lightwhip, for example, have publishing history. Reading High Republic books or comics can add context to those elements, but the available official episode material does not establish any specific book as required background for understanding Osha and Qimir’s conversation.
