The clearest ownership link in the available record is a Nissan GT-R, which Nissan said Bolt had owned since 2009. In a 2016 interview, Bolt said he had five cars at the time, after previously having ten. The “958” in the title nods to his 9.58-second 100-metre world record, not the number of cars in his garage.
What does “958” mean?
Nissan’s June 1, 2012 campaign announcement identified Bolt’s 100-metre world-record time as 9.58 seconds. That figure explains the title’s “958”; it has no connection to the size or value of his car collection. Nissan’s 2012 announcement also provides the clearest company-stated ownership claim about one of his cars.
What is known about Bolt’s car collection?
The strongest confirmed ownership evidence in these published accounts concerns the Nissan GT-R. Other vehicles appear in interviews as cars Bolt reportedly owned at the time, or as cars he drove or hired. Those categories should not be conflated.
Nissan GT-R: the clearest ownership link
In its 2012 campaign release, Nissan said Bolt had owned a GT-R since 2009 and described him as discovering the model online before deciding to buy one. The statement appeared in promotional material, so it is useful evidence of the company’s stated ownership relationship, not an independently verified inventory. Nissan quoted Bolt praising the car’s driving experience and safety.

A 2016 interview with Bolt, republished by Fox News from news.com.au, discussed a black GT-R and a gold GT-R. Bolt described the gold one as a gift after his performance at the London 2012 Olympics. This is a 2016 account, not evidence that he still owns either car now. The Fox News article also lists a Range Rover Autobiography, Ford Raptor and Subaru Impreza among cars he owned, as reported at that time.
Other cars listed in 2016 reporting
The same Fox News report recounts Bolt’s stories about BMW M3 accidents and says his first car was a Honda Accord, which he said was written off after someone crashed into it. These are interview anecdotes, not a complete or current ownership list.

In a separate 2016 interview, Complex quoted Bolt discussing a GT-R he had custom-made in 2014. He described its white interior and said he changed the carpeting for black mats. Complex’s interview supplies detail about that car’s customization, but does not establish the state of his collection today.
How many cars did Bolt say he had?
In a 2016 British GQ interview, Bolt answered “Five” when asked how many cars he had “these days.” When the interviewer recalled that he used to have nine, Bolt corrected the figure to ten and said he had reduced the fleet. The interview does not name all five cars or give a current count. Both figures belong to that 2016 conversation.

Which Ferraris did he drive—and did he own them?
The available accounts document Ferrari driving experiences, not Ferrari ownership. In 2010, Bolt visited Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters and drove a 458 Italia and a 599 GTB Fiorano. PUMA’s release says he hoped to get a Ferrari in the future, which is consistent with the visit being an experience rather than evidence that either car belonged to him. PUMA’s 2010 announcement quotes him calling the track laps a thrill and a dream come true.
A separate Ferrari story concerns a hire. What Car? reported in 2008 that Bolt hired a Ferrari F430 Spider for an hour and drove it on the Monaco Grand Prix circuit ahead of an awards event. The report attributed the 90-euro hourly fee to his manager, Ricky Simms. A hired car should not be counted as part of an owned collection. What Car?’s account describes the drive.

Is Bolt’s current collection or its value known?
The cited accounts do not establish Bolt’s present-day inventory, a current car count or a reliable collection valuation. The useful picture is historical: Nissan’s 2012 statement about GT-R ownership, alongside Bolt’s 2016 account of a reduced fleet and other vehicles reported that year. Later ownership should not be inferred from those snapshots.
