There is no official ranking of the weakest Sith Lords, and the available evidence here does not support a defensible list of 15 names. The official StarWars.com references establish several Sith characters’ backgrounds and particular defeats, but not comparable measures of their power. A ranking that fills all 15 places would have to invent evidence or treat a single loss as proof of general weakness.
This article therefore uses a canon-oriented scope: the official Databank pages cited below describe Star Wars characters, while the Darth Bane novels are explicitly labeled Legends by their publisher. It explains what the sources do establish—and why those facts cannot honestly be turned into a 15-place ranking.
What “weakest” would need to mean
“Weakest” is not an official Star Wars category. The reviewed sources provide no comparative scale, named statistic, or authoritative list of the least powerful Sith. A meaningful ranking would need to define its terms and apply them consistently rather than equating one defeat with a character’s overall ability.
- Combat record: who a Sith fought, what happened, and under what circumstances.
- Demonstrated Force abilities: what the character is actually shown doing, rather than what a sparse reference entry leaves unmentioned.
- Strategic influence: whether the character shaped events or depended on another Sith’s plans.
- Context and support: whether an outcome hinged on allies, preparation, surprise, or a particular vulnerability.
These are useful comparison axes, not an official scoring system. Without consistent evidence across 15 characters, assigning exact places would imply a certainty the sources do not provide.

What the official references establish
StarWars.com describes the Sith as an ancient order of dark-side Force wielders devoted to power; its account notes that Sidious and Vader conquered the galaxy. That background establishes the order’s ambitions, not a ladder for ranking every member. StarWars.com Databank: Sith
Maul
StarWars.com calls Maul a “formidable warrior and scheming mastermind.” Ahsoka captured him after their duel on Mandalore, but that outcome is one encounter, not evidence that he was generally weak. StarWars.com Databank: Maul
Rank #2
Count Dooku
Count Dooku, also known as Darth Tyranus, served as Sidious’ apprentice and was killed by Anakin during the Battle of Coruscant. That is a documented defeat; the reference does not present it as an overall measure of Dooku’s capability. StarWars.com Databank: Count Dooku
Darth Vader
Obi-Wan defeated Vader on Mustafar, leaving him cybernetically enhanced. StarWars.com also describes Vader’s long service enforcing Sidious’ will. The Mustafar loss is a major vulnerability and turning point, not proof that Vader belongs among the weakest Sith. StarWars.com Databank: Darth Vader
Rank #3
Darth Sidious, Maul, and Savage Opress
Sidious defeated Maul and Savage Opress in a personal confrontation, killing Opress and capturing Maul. This shows Sidious’ dominance in that encounter; it does not create a universal scale by which every Sith can be ranked. StarWars.com Databank: Darth Sidious
Does this list include Legends?
No: the scope here is canon-oriented and relies on official character references. The distinction matters because the publisher identifies the Darth Bane novel trilogy as Legends, not canon. Bane’s Rule of Two followed the Sith’s decimation by the Jedi, but events from the novels should not be silently mixed into a canon ranking. Penguin Random House: Star Wars: Darth Bane Trilogy — Legends
Rank #4
Why a 15-name ranking would mislead
The available references support character background and selected outcomes, but not a comparable 15-character shortlist or exact placements. A character with fewer documented appearances may look less powerful simply because less evidence is available. Likewise, a notable loss can coexist with substantial combat skill, Force ability, or strategic influence.
For those reasons, there is no reliable answer here to “Who is the weakest Sith Lord?” or “Which Sith Lords were defeated most easily?” Those questions require a defined character pool and fuller, consistently sourced evidence than these references provide. An honest answer is that the official sources cited here do not establish a weakest Sith Lord—or a defensible bottom 15.
