TIME announced its 2025 TIME100 on April 16, 2025, calling it the 22nd annual list of 100 influential people in the world. What is the 2025 TIME100?
The TIME100 is TIME’s annual selection of people it considers influential. For 2025, the magazine described the list as its 22nd annual edition. TIME CEO Jessica Sibley said the list “recognizes the leaders shaping the world today and defining its future.” That is the publisher’s framing of the selection, not a claim that every person on it is universally admired or that influence necessarily means virtue. TIME’s announcement also confirms a 2025 magazine issue with five worldwide covers featuring Demi Moore, Snoop Dogg, Serena Williams, Ed Sheeran, and Demis Hassabis.
Who is on the list?
TIME’s announcement names people from a range of fields. Among the political figures it identifies are Donald Trump, Elon Musk, J.D. Vance, Claudia Sheinbaum, Javier Milei, Keir Starmer, and Muhammad Yunus. Business and technology examples include Mark Zuckerberg, Ted Sarandos, Larry Fink, Alex Karp, Lisa Su, Dario Amodei, and Liang Wenfeng.
The announcement also highlights entertainers and cultural figures such as Scarlett Johansson, Snoop Dogg, Ed Sheeran, Rosé, Demi Moore, Lorne Michaels, and Hozier; athletes including Simone Biles, Serena Williams, Breanna Stewart, Jalen Hurts, Léon Marchand, and Napheesa Collier; and people in other fields, including fashion designer Miuccia Prada, visual artists Yoshitomo Nara and Mickalene Thomas, and writer Percival Everett. These are examples named in the announcement, not a complete roster of all 100 honorees.

Is the 2025 TIME100 ranked?
TIME’s release presents the honorees in a tribute format, pairing list members with guest contributors selected by the magazine to write about them. The release does not give a 1-to-100 ranking, disclose a scoring formula, or set out a detailed selection rubric. It is therefore more accurate to read the TIME100 as an editorial selection than as a measured league table.
What does “influence” mean on a list this broad?
The honorees work in fields where influence takes different forms. A political leader may shape policy and public institutions; a business or technology executive may direct capital, a company, or a widely used technology; an entertainer or athlete may command cultural attention; and an artist, scientist, or advocate may shape a profession or movement. These are useful ways to interpret the range of people included, not criteria TIME says it formally used to score them.
TIME’s editor in chief, Sam Jacobs, wrote that the magazine’s founders believed focusing on individuals transforming the world helps readers understand it. That explains the list’s person-centered approach, but it does not establish that every honoree has the same kind or scale of influence.

TIME scheduled its 2025 TIME100 Summit for April 23 in New York City and its Gala for April 24. The announcement said the gala special would air on ABC on May 4 and be available on Hulu the following day. Those dates describe the 2025 schedule and are not current event listings. The magazine’s five worldwide covers were part of the same edition.
