Thor tops this 2026 editorial ranking, followed by Black Panther and Aquaman. The order is not an official financial table: it weighs royal and realm-level resources alongside personal and corporate fortunes, which cannot be compared on a single balance sheet.
How to read this ranking
David Harth’s ComicBook.com ranking, published February 4, 2026, places ten heroes in order using qualitative arguments rather than comparable dollar valuations. It counts assets such as kingdoms, planetary resources, magical objects and corporate holdings. That makes the list an editorial judgment, not a canonical measure of personal net worth.
The distinction matters most near the top: a ruler’s access to a realm’s resources is not the same thing as money personally owned or readily spent. Comic continuities and adaptations also change characters’ fortunes. The ranking below follows Harth’s order and summarizes the reasoning behind it.
The 10 richest superheroes, in order
-
Thor
Thor ranks first because the list counts Asgard’s royal wealth, magical objects and libraries among the assets at his disposal. The source describes that wealth as effectively incalculable; it does not assign a substantiated dollar value.

Black Panther (T’Challa)
T’Challa’s position rests on more than personal wealth. The ranking points to Wakanda’s vibranium resources and its expansion into an intergalactic power with planetary resources. Those are realm-level assets, not a straightforward estimate of his personal net worth.
-
Aquaman (Arthur Curry)
Aquaman’s fortune is tied to Atlantis: its territory and resources, along with access to the surface economy. The ranking treats those resources as part of the wealth behind his position.
-
Namor
Namor’s wealth likewise comes from a kingdom and the sea. The list cites Atlantis, undersea resources and recovered treasure as sources of his immense fortune.
-
Batman (Bruce Wayne)
Bruce Wayne represents corporate and inherited wealth, with Wayne Enterprises’ breadth central to the case for his ranking. The source suggests his fortune could approach trillionaire scale, but offers no substantiated valuation; that is a qualitative editorial claim, not a balance-sheet figure.

Iron Man (Tony Stark)
Tony Stark’s fortune is associated with his company and business ventures. The ranking describes him as a multi-billionaire, while noting that his wealth has fluctuated as he has lost and rebuilt it. It gives no comparable valuation for this list.
-
Professor X (Charles Xavier)
Charles Xavier’s position draws on inherited resources, funding for the X-Men and investments connected to Krakoan medicine. The list does not provide a dollar estimate.

Are Batman or Iron Man richer?
This list ranks Batman fifth and Iron Man sixth, but it does not establish a definitive gap between their fortunes. The comparison depends on which continuity or adaptation is being considered, whether the measure is personal wealth or corporate holdings, and whether a figure appears in the story or comes from an outside estimate.
A separate Mint article published June 26, 2025 repeats an estimate of $12.4 billion for Tony Stark, attributed there to a 2024 MSN estimate, and $9.2 billion for Bruce Wayne. These are secondary, continuity-dependent estimates, not figures used to calculate the 2026 ranking. They should not be treated as a stable comparison across all versions of the characters.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How much is Black Panther worth?
There is no single dependable figure for T’Challa across comics and screen adaptations. Mint’s June 26, 2025 article reports an estimate of about $500 billion for T’Challa in an MCU framing and also mentions a figure of up to $90 trillion in some comic-story discussions. These figures come from different contexts and methods; neither is a validated, comparable personal net-worth figure. The 2026 ranking places Black Panther second because it counts Wakanda’s vibranium and wider resources, not because it calculates a dollar amount.

Why superhero wealth is difficult to rank
The characters on the list do not all possess the same kind of wealth. A company’s assets, an individual’s fortune, a kingdom’s resources and a store of magical objects are different things. Treating them as interchangeable produces an order that can be useful as an editorial comparison, but not as a precise financial league table.
In a 2025 article in the Journal for Economic Educators, economists Brian O’Roark and Clair Smith note that Bruce Wayne, Tony Stark, Oliver Queen and T’Challa are wealthy separately from the abilities that make them heroes. Their point highlights an important distinction: money is one part of these characters’ stories, but it is not a measure of their heroic capabilities.
Read the ranking, then, as a snapshot of one source’s interpretation—not a permanent order across every comic continuity, film or television adaptation. The 2026 list supplies no comparable dollar figures for its ten entries, and outside estimates should be kept attached to the continuity and source that produced them.
