That is not a verified current, rerelease-inclusive total. A dependable current ranking of all ten films cannot be published from the available figures: they are incomplete and mix a 2020 report with provisional placements. The list below shows the best-supported ordering, clearly marking where current totals or positions remain unverified.
How this ranking is measured
This list covers feature films Nolan directed, ranked by worldwide theatrical gross from lowest to highest, in unadjusted dollars. It is a box-office comparison—not a measure of artistic quality, current popularity, profitability, or inflation-adjusted historical performance. The historical totals below come from Atom Insider’s 2020 article, while the newer positions are provisional; the available evidence does not establish a single current tracker’s exact totals for all ten films. The eligible filmography now extends through The Odyssey (2026). Man of Steel is excluded because Nolan produced it but did not direct it. Nolan filmography

Why other lists may differ
- Worldwide versus domestic: This ranking uses worldwide theatrical gross. A domestic-only list measures a different market and can order films differently.
- Nominal versus inflation-adjusted dollars: This list does not adjust for inflation. An adjusted ranking can reorder older releases, so its figures should not be mixed with nominal totals. Inflation-adjusted ranking
- Original release versus later rereleases: Reissues can change a film’s recorded cumulative gross. The historical Following number, in particular, should not be treated as a verified current cumulative total.
What box-office gross does—and does not—tell you
Gross is the amount collected at theaters, not studio profit. Production costs alone cannot establish whether a film made money: marketing is not included in simple budget-to-gross ratios, and distribution terms and exhibitor shares also affect what a studio receives. Box Office Watch These rankings therefore say which films recorded lower theatrical grosses, not which were financial failures.
