“Tesla x TRON: Ares” describes a visible cross-promotion, not a confirmed paid partnership. October 2025 coverage reported a TRON-themed Tesla Toybox setting, while Tesla’s quarterly investor update later showed Optimus at the film’s premiere. Neither source establishes that Disney paid Tesla or discloses a formal commercial agreement.
What was the Tesla and TRON: Ares connection?
There were two distinct touchpoints: an in-car visual theme reported by TechRadar around the film’s release, and an Optimus appearance at the premiere documented in Tesla’s investor materials. Together they support calling this a visible cross-promotion. They do not, by themselves, establish a paid placement or formal partnership.
The reported in-car Toybox theme
On October 14, 2025, TechRadar reported that Tesla’s Toybox included a TRON option. The setting changed the vehicle icon in 3D navigation into a Light Cycle with light-trail effects. The report also described a red cabin-light setting for vehicles with optional ambient lighting. TechRadar named Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck; that is a list of models in its report, not a complete compatibility list or a guarantee that every trim, year, region, or software version supports the feature. TechRadar’s October 2025 report does not establish whether the theme remains available today.
The reported menu path was App Launcher > Toybox. Tesla’s quarterly filing documents the premiere image, not this feature, and the sources here do not provide an official Tesla release note or a hardware-by-hardware eligibility matrix. Owners checking a particular car should rely on its current software interface and Tesla’s region-specific release information rather than assume that a model name alone settles compatibility.

Optimus at the premiere
Tesla’s Q3 2025 investor update, filed with the SEC on October 22, 2025, includes a photograph captioned “OPTIMUS – AT THE TRON ARES PREMIERE.” This confirms that Tesla included an image of Optimus at the event in its investor materials. It does not say that Tesla sponsored the film, that Disney paid for the appearance, or what commercial terms, if any, applied. Tesla’s Q3 2025 investor update
Was it an official paid partnership?
The available evidence does not establish that Disney paid Tesla, or disclose a formal commercial agreement. TechRadar reported that payment was unknown. The Toybox theme and premiere image show a promotional association, but they are not evidence of a fee, licensing deal, sponsorship, or other specific arrangement. No named Tesla or Disney executive statement in the cited materials confirms partnership terms.
