Sonic the Hedgehog X Godzilla #1 is an IDW Publishing comic crossover announced on February 23, 2026. Its story brings Godzilla and other kaiju into Sonic’s world, where Dr. Eggman tries to harness their power. Sonic, Amy, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow set out to stop him and send the monsters home.
What is Sonic the Hedgehog X Godzilla?
It is a comic-book crossover between the Sonic the Hedgehog and Godzilla franchises. IDW Publishing described SONIC X GODZILLA #1 as the first time the two franchises meet in comic books. The publisher announced the issue on February 23, 2026.
The premise starts with a mysterious portal and a kaiju attack in Sonic’s world. Dr. Eggman sees the monsters as a source of power for his own plan, prompting Sonic and his allies to intervene. The announced team includes Amy, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow.
Who is making the comic?
IDW names Nick Marino as writer and Jack Lawrence as artist, with Reggie Graham credited for colors. The publisher also acknowledges SEGA and Toho as partners that provided guidance and support.

Marino said he was shaping scenarios for Lawrence to draw while leaving room in the panel counts for the crossover’s spectacle. IDW’s Sonic Editorial described the pairing as a natural fit and said it had been a treat to see the story and art come together. Those are the creators’ and publisher’s own descriptions, not independent reviews.
When will Sonic X Godzilla #1 be released?
IDW’s announcement gave a broad release window of summer 2026 and recommended contacting a comic shop to pre-order. It did not give a precise release date or an issue schedule. It also does not establish the comic’s format, price, present availability, or continuity status.
