Taylor Swift’s custom link referred 337,826 visitors to Vote.gov by 2 p.m. Eastern on September 11, 2024, according to a General Services Administration spokesperson quoted by The Independent. That figure counts referrals to the federal voting-information site—not completed voter registrations or ballots cast.
What Swift’s link did—and what the number counts
After the September 10, 2024 presidential debate, Swift endorsed Kamala Harris in an Instagram post and shared a custom URL in an Instagram Story. The URL directed followers to Vote.gov, the federal government’s voting-information clearinghouse.
The reported 337,826 is the number of visitors referred through Swift’s URL by 2 p.m. ET the next day. It is a time-bounded referral count, not an all-time total. The figure was attributed to a GSA spokesperson in news coverage; it was not presented as a publicly released raw analytics record.
Vote.gov does not register voters itself. It provides voting information and routes people to the relevant state or territory election website, where they can find local registration instructions and requirements. A referral therefore does not establish that a visitor was eligible, completed registration, or later voted.

Why another reported number is higher
Spectrum News NY1 reported a separate figure of 405,999 referrals over the 24 hours Swift’s Instagram Story was live, also attributed to a GSA spokesperson. It covers a different reporting window from the 337,826 count reported as of 2 p.m. ET on September 11, so the figures should not be treated as competing measurements with the same cutoff or combined as separate groups of visitors. Spectrum News NY1’s report describes the full-Story window.
How the 2024 link differs from Swift’s 2023 voter-registration post
A separate Swift-linked event took place on September 19, 2023, National Voter Registration Day. Swift encouraged followers to use Vote.org, not Vote.gov. Vote.org reported 157,041 eligible voters visited its site that day and 35,252 new registrations. It also reported registrations were up 22.5% compared with the previous National Voter Registration Day, with registrations among 18-year-olds up 115% compared with 2022. Those are Vote.org’s figures for its 2023 event, not outcomes from the 2024 Vote.gov referrals.
