Swift shared the selfie with the caption: “Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start.” The Prince and Princess of Wales’ social-media account posted a separate image showing Swift taking the selfie, writing: “Thank you @taylorswift13 for a great evening! #LondonTSTheErastour.” ABC News reproduced both captions.
TIME reported that the Palace account shared its behind-the-camera image four minutes before Swift posted the selfie.

Had Swift met Prince William before?
Yes. TIME reported that Swift and William previously performed with Jon Bon Jovi at a 2013 Centrepoint charity gala at Kensington Palace. That earlier appearance was separate from their backstage meeting at Wembley in 2024.
