Two days after Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour ended in Vancouver, bassist Amos Heller posted a farewell reflection describing the strain of life on the road, the community he found on tour and how the experience changed him. His words were a personal account of the tour’s ending—not a universal portrait of touring musicians.
When Heller shared his reflection
The Eras Tour’s final show took place in Vancouver on December 8, 2024. Heller posted his reflection on Instagram on December 10; contemporaneous reports published excerpts from it on December 11 and 12. The Associated Press reported that the tour concluded after 149 shows. The AP’s December 2024 retrospective also described the concert format as about three and a half hours, with 44 songs spanning 10 eras.
Heller opened with a line about the scale of what had just ended: “The record books are closed with fresh ink on a lot of pages,” The Independent reported.
What life on tour looked like to him
Heller’s reflection paired the extraordinary scale of performing in stadiums with the less glamorous routine required to get there. As quoted by The Independent, he recalled early calls, airports, luggage, jet lag and missing family. He also wrote about the exhilaration of playing for stadium crowds and the connections formed with fellow performers and fans.

Those details matter because Heller did not describe the ending as only a triumph or only a relief. His account held the fatigue and time away from home alongside the rewards of performing and the relationships he valued. It remains his own recollection of this tour.
His thanks to Swift and the tour community
Heller expressed gratitude for the people around the tour, describing a community that had grown beyond people who simply liked the same songs. ClutchPoints reported his words: “I feel so much love and gratitude to be a part of this community, which I’ve been privileged to watch grow into so much more than a collective of people who like the same songs.”

How Heller said the experience changed him
Heller wrote that he had “emerged changed” as a “player, performer, person, partner,” according to The Independent. The phrasing reaches beyond his work as a bassist: he framed the tour as an experience that affected his musicianship, performance and personal life.

Related Eras Tour keepsakes and viewing
The AP reported that Swift released a coffee-table book toward the end of the tour. That is a separate tour keepsake; the available reporting does not establish that Heller appears in the book. In later coverage, the AP reported that the six-episode behind-the-scenes docuseries The End of an Era launched on Disney+ in December 2025, with its first two episodes released December 12 and the remaining episodes scheduled weekly through December 26. It is later context, not the source of Heller’s 2024 farewell reflection; streaming availability may vary by region. Read the AP’s report on the docuseries.
