Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival launched for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on November 7, 2024. The game first released on Nintendo Switch in 2022, so the newer versions extend an existing rhythm game rather than mark an upcoming release. Bandai Namco says the new-platform versions support up to 120 frames per second and add platform-exclusive collaboration songs and mini-characters.
When did Rhythm Festival arrive on PS5, Xbox, and PC?
Bandai Namco Entertainment America announced the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam release for November 7, 2024. The Nintendo Switch version had already launched in 2022. The publisher described support for up to 120 fps on the newer platforms as a first for the series on home consoles; that performance claim is the publisher’s, not an independent benchmark.

What is included in the game?
Set in Omiko City, the drum-based rhythm game follows Don-chan and Kumo-kyun. The base game includes 76 songs across genres such as anime, pop, and Vocaloid. The publisher lists “Gurenge,” “Feel Special,” and “Racing into the Night” among its examples.
Four named modes offer different ways to play:
- Taiko Mode: Play along to songs using the traditional drum rhythm format.
- Great Drum Toy War: A competitive drum-themed mode.
- DON-chan Band: A band-style mode.
- Run! Ninja Dojo: A challenge mode built around a ninja course.
The US Xbox Store listing says Taiko Mode and Great Drum Toy War support up to two players, while DON-chan Band and Run! Ninja Dojo support up to four. Each player needs one controller. The listing also describes online ranked matches and room matches; online features and requirements should be checked on the relevant platform’s store page.

How do the song editions and Music Pass differ?
The base game’s 76-song library is separate from the larger catalog available through the paid Taiko Music Pass. Bandai Namco says the pass adds access to more than 700 songs. The digital Setlist Edition bundles the base game with three song collections: Anime Songs, Pops, and Vocaloid. Bandai Namco Europe describes this edition as digital exclusive.
| Option | What it includes | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Base game | 76 songs, according to Bandai Namco | Song count and examples are publisher-stated. |
| Taiko Music Pass | Access to more than 700 additional songs, according to Bandai Namco | A paid subscription; check the platform store for current terms and availability. |
| Digital Setlist Edition | Base game plus Anime Songs, Pops, and Vocaloid collections | Bandai Namco Europe calls it digital exclusive; availability can vary by region and platform. |

Are all songs and DLC still available to buy?
No. In a notice dated May 28, 2026, Bandai Namco America said some Rhythm Festival DLC would be discontinued. Its list includes removals scheduled between February 27, 2025 and June 25, 2026. The publisher says customers who purchased the affected DLC can re-download it and continue using it in-game. That does not mean every listed track or pack remains available for new purchase: check the store for your region and platform before choosing an edition or planning a song library.

Can you play with a Taiko drum controller?
For Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, Microsoft’s listing confirms compatibility with HORI’s licensed Taiko no Tatsujin Drum Controller, model MBS-018E. HORI describes it as a wired controller with a pressure-sensitive pad, two drumsticks, and a stand. The game is sold separately. HORI’s product page displayed $99.99 when accessed in 2026; that observed price is not a guaranteed current price.
This compatibility evidence applies to the Xbox/Windows model. It does not establish that the same controller works with PS5 or Switch. A PlayStation controller page linked from Bandai Namco Europe returned a not-found response, so a current PlayStation model or compatibility claim cannot be confirmed here.
