In February 2026, Sofia described two occasions: a restaurant visit and a film screening. The Court also said she had been invited to a separate private screening in 2012 but did not attend.
What the Royal Court and Princess Sofia said
The accounts differ in how they count the encounters, so they are best kept separate rather than treated as contradictory. Sveriges Radio’s Ekot reported on 11 December 2025 that the Court said Sofia remembered meeting Epstein a few times about 20 years earlier. The Court described the settings as social, including a restaurant and a film premiere.
| Account | What was said | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Royal Court, reported by Sveriges Radio on 11 December 2025 | Sofia remembered meeting Epstein a few times around 2005, in social settings such as a restaurant and a film premiere. | The Court’s approximate count and timeframe, as reported by Sveriges Radio. |
| Princess Sofia, speaking to journalists in February 2026 | She told TT she met Epstein on two occasions: at a restaurant and at a film screening. | Sofia’s own later account of the number and settings, as reported by Swedish Radio. |
“A few” is the Court’s formulation; “two” is Sofia’s. Neither account supplies an exact date or venue for each encounter. Swedish Radio also reported that the Court said Sofia had had no contact with Epstein for the past 20 years. Sofia’s reported response included: “Thankfully, that was all.”
Was Princess Sofia at the 2012 private screening?
No. In a separate report, Swedish Radio said the Royal Court told TT that Sofia had been invited to a private screening in 2012 but was not there. That invitation should not be confused with the film screening Sofia later described as one of her two encounters: the reporting does not establish that they were the same event.

What was reported about the introduction
Svenska Dagbladet reported that Barbro Ehnbom mediated contact between Sofia and Epstein around 2005. The paper summarized leaked correspondence in which Ehnbom presented Sofia as an aspiring actor; Epstein responded with a Caribbean flight ticket, and a later exchange referred to places in acting courses.
Those reported messages do not establish that Sofia traveled to Epstein or accepted an offer. The accounts establish reported introductions and meetings, not an ongoing relationship or any criminal conduct by Sofia.
