Spoilers for the May 22, 2024 finale: Kenzie Petty won Survivor 46, defeating Charlie Davis and Ben Katzman in a reported 5–3–0 jury vote. The finale, officially titled “Friends Going to War,” began with five castaways left and ended with Kenzie’s relationships and jury case edging out Charlie’s strategic game.
What happened in the ‘Survivor 46’ finale?
Season 46, episode 13, “Friends Going to War,” aired May 22, 2024. CBS’s official episode listing describes the five-player endgame and the competition to determine who would become Sole Survivor. The decisive sequence delivered a final three of Kenzie Petty, Charlie Davis, and Ben Katzman.
The title’s “ultimate unraveling” fits the season’s repeated collapse of expected control: even an advantage or a well-placed plan could not guarantee safety. In the finale, the remaining players had to convert their position into a place at Final Tribal Council, where the jury—not the presumed strength of any one alliance—would decide the winner.
How the final three took shape
Ben controlled the last immunity decision
TVLine’s finale recap reports that Ben earned the final immunity decision and chose Charlie to join him in the final three. That left Kenzie and Liz competing in fire-making for the remaining seat.

Kenzie beat Liz at fire-making
Kenzie defeated Liz in the fire-making contest, securing her place beside Ben and Charlie at Final Tribal Council. The result completed a path that had required both surviving the endgame vote pressure and winning the final head-to-head test.
Why Kenzie beat Charlie
TVLine reported that Kenzie won the jury vote 5–3–0. The tally makes the outcome close, not unanimous: Charlie earned three votes, while Ben received none. The result establishes who prevailed; the reasons jurors chose one finalist over another should not be reduced to a single motive unless a juror stated it on air or in an interview.

| Finalist | What defined the case | How the finale positioned them |
|---|---|---|
| Kenzie Petty | Her relationships and appeal to the jury formed the heart of her winning case. | Defeated Liz in fire-making, then won five jury votes. |
| Charlie Davis | His case centered on strategic partnership and decisions across the game. | Ben chose him for the final three; he received three jury votes. |
| Ben Katzman | His route to the final three included control of the final immunity decision. | Chose Charlie, reached Final Tribal Council, and received no jury votes. |
As an editorial reading of the finalists’ contrasting cases, Kenzie’s social connections appear to have been more persuasive to this jury than Charlie’s strategic account. Charlie had a credible case built around choices and partnership, but the final tally shows that those arguments did not carry enough votes to overcome Kenzie’s jury appeal. The result is clear; the tally alone cannot establish each juror’s private reasoning.
The season’s chaos in two reported figures
Yahoo Entertainment’s finale live blog relayed two season figures from Jeff Probst: five players were voted out with idols in their pockets, including four consecutively, and the castaways went 23 days without rice. These details help explain the season’s volatile feel: advantages did not always translate into protection, and the deprivation was a sustained condition rather than a brief twist.
