Elizabeth Tulloch’s “bittersweet” update was about the final days of filming Superman & Lois—not a renewal or a new season. On April 18, 2024, the actor, who played Lois Lane, said the production had four filming days left. The series has since ended, with its series finale airing in December 2024.
What did Lois Lane’s actor say?
In a video shared to her Instagram Stories on April 18, 2024, Tulloch marked the 86th anniversary of Superman and Lois’s first appearance in Action Comics #1. She said filming was nearly over and described the timing as bittersweet: “An although it’s a little bit bittersweet because we only have four days of filming left, I do love the synchronicity of that.” ComicBook.com reported her comments that day: ComicBook.com’s report on Tulloch’s filming update.
The four days referred to filming remaining at that point in production. The remark was a personal reflection on the coincidence between the anniversary and the show nearing the end of filming, not an announcement about the season’s release date or future plans.
Why the update was bittersweet
Tulloch’s comment connected two milestones: the anniversary of Superman and Lois’s debut in Action Comics #1, and the approaching end of filming on the series. She called the timing “synchronicity.” Her reference to the 86th anniversary reflects the date of her April 2024 remark; it is not a current anniversary update.

Season 4 was already the final season
The CW had announced on November 2, 2023, that Superman & Lois would conclude with its fourth season. The announcement described season 4 as a 10-episode farewell. CinemaBlend reproduced comments from CW entertainment president Brad Schwartz calling it an “absolutely epic 10-episode must-watch-every-minute farewell,” along with remarks from co-showrunners Todd Helbing and Brent Fletcher thanking the cast, crew, and production partners and teasing a final confrontation with Lex Luthor: CinemaBlend’s report on the final-season announcement.
The sequence is clear: the network announced the show’s ending in 2023, Tulloch shared her filming update in April 2024, and the series concluded later that year.
