Nintendo and Illumination revealed Rosalina and Bowser Jr. with the first trailer in November 2025, showed Yoshi in January 2026, and announced additional cast members with the final trailer in March.
When the movie’s characters were revealed
The distinction is between characters appearing in a trailer and the date and venue of their first confirmed announcement. Nintendo’s releases establish the latter chronology:

Universal’s synopsis says Mario and Luigi meet Yoshi and try to reform a miniaturized Bowser. After a call for help, they travel across the galaxy, encountering new worlds, threats, Rosalina, and Bowser Jr. Universal lists the film as animated/family, with a runtime of 1 hour 39 minutes and a PG rating for action, mild violence, and rude humor.
