Lady Gaga appeared in a pre-recorded Super Bowl LIX tribute before kickoff on February 9, 2025, singing “Hold My Hand” on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. The segment honored victims of the January 1 truck attack in New Orleans and the recent Los Angeles wildfires. It was part of the pregame broadcast—not the halftime show.
What Lady Gaga performed and when
Gaga sang “Hold My Hand,” her 2022 song, in a pre-recorded performance filmed on Bourbon Street. The segment aired in the run-up to kickoff at Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025. The Associated Press reported that it had been taped at 4 a.m. on Thursday.
Before the song, Tom Brady, Michael Strahan, and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell walked up the street together. Brady described the tribute as honoring “the American spirit of courage, generosity and unity,” according to the Associated Press. That was Brady’s characterization, not a quote from Gaga.
Who the tribute honored
The performance honored victims of the January 1, 2025 truck attack in New Orleans and people affected by the recent Los Angeles wildfires. The available reporting establishes the tribute’s purpose but does not provide a first-person explanation from Gaga about it.

Was Lady Gaga in the Super Bowl halftime show?
No. Gaga’s appearance was a pregame tribute, separate from the Apple Music halftime show, which Kendrick Lamar headlined. The Associated Press reported that SZA joined Lamar as a guest performer.
The pregame broadcast also included other announced musical performances: Jon Batiste was slated to sing the national anthem; Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle, “America the Beautiful”; and Ledisi, “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Those performances were distinct from Gaga’s Bourbon Street segment.
