Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFirst identify what “ended” or “uploading” means: a scheduled pre-recorded broadcast normally ends when its video finishes; a local recording may still be uploading separately; and a completed YouTube livestream may simply be processing before it appears in Uploads. If the broadcast stopped before its source video finished, compare its actual duration with the planned duration and check the StreamYard broadcast status and YouTube’s live page or dashboard for an error.
First, identify what ended
“Uploading a video” can describe three different steps, and they call for different checks. Use the status shown in StreamYard and YouTube, not just whether a video is visible on the channel.
- The scheduled pre-recorded broadcast: the public livestream itself stopped.
- A local recording upload: a participant’s browser-captured recording is still transferring to StreamYard. This is separate from the YouTube broadcast.
- The YouTube archive: the livestream finished, but its full recording is not yet visible in the channel’s Uploads view.
StreamYard’s Help Center article “Pre-recorded Streaming” says a scheduled stream starts at the specified time and “end[s] once the video is finished.” That is expected behavior if the broadcast duration matches the source video. An earlier end needs investigation.
If the pre-recorded livestream stopped early
Compare the source and broadcast durations
- Check the source video’s full intended duration and compare it with the actual duration of the YouTube livestream.
- Check the broadcast’s status in StreamYard and open the YouTube live page or dashboard. Note any visible error, restriction, or indication that the stream disconnected.
- Use the exact message and status to choose the account, connection, or file checks below. Without those details, the cause cannot be determined reliably.
Check the source file if it lagged or would not stream properly
For a pre-recorded source-file problem, StreamYard recommends re-encoding the file with HandBrake and uploading it again. Its pre-recorded streaming guidance specifies MP4 with H.264 video encoding and a maximum video bitrate of 10 Mbps. That is a limit for the uploaded video, not a recommended internet upload speed. The article also describes paid-plan streaming up to 1080p and says duration and file-size limits depend on plan; check the current article for the applicable limits rather than assuming a cap.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If a local recording is still uploading
A local participant recording is captured in the browser’s local storage and uploads separately from the public livestream. If that upload is stuck, protect the browser data that may still hold the recording.
- Keep using the same device and browser profile that hosted the broadcast. Close other StreamYard tabs, then revisit streamyard.com/upload.
- Do not clear browser cache or cookies, switch browser profiles, or close a private-browsing session that may contain the recording before recovery. StreamYard says a recording in a private window cannot be recovered after that window is closed.
- Check whether the browser is allowed to preserve site data. Also check whether a VPN, firewall, browser extension, or unreliable connection is interrupting the upload.
- If you are a guest, StreamYard says you can return to the upload page within 30 days to finish uploading the local recording.
StreamYard advises keeping participants in the studio until their uploads finish. Once a local recording uploads, it must still process: StreamYard says most are available in about 30 minutes on average, but processing can take longer. Contact StreamYard support if it remains incomplete after 24 hours. Those are local-recording processing estimates, not guarantees about YouTube archive processing.

If the livestream ended but its YouTube archive is missing
A missing video in YouTube’s Uploads view does not by itself mean the broadcast failed or ended early. Check the channel’s Live tab and StreamYard’s Past Streams section; there, select View on YouTube to open the stream. StreamYard says YouTube usually takes up to about 24 hours to process a past livestream before it appears in Uploads. This is an archive visibility delay after the broadcast, distinct from a live connection failure.
Use the error message to check the connection or account
YouTube says live streaming is currently prevented
StreamYard says this is typically related to a YouTube Community Guidelines violation. Check YouTube’s dashboard for details and follow YouTube’s appeal process if applicable. Do not assume this is the explanation unless the dashboard or error message supports it.

- Refresh the video page and confirm internet access.
- Restart the browser and computer, then check network speed.
- Try a private window for this generic connection error and disable browser extensions that may interfere.
- Check firewall, proxy, or VPN settings that could block the connection.
Private-window troubleshooting is for a generic connection error; it is not a safe recovery step for a local recording upload that may depend on browser-stored data.
