Restream is the better fit if you want a scheduled prerecorded YouTube livestream to replay automatically. Its prerecorded-event workflow supports up to 10 plays of one video, with a maximum resulting stream of 40 hours, on the paid Marathon or Media add-on plans. StreamYard can schedule a prerecorded broadcast, but the broadcast ends when its selected video finishes. StreamYard’s separate loop control repeats a clip inside an active studio; it is not the same unattended scheduled-event loop.
At a glance: which service fits?
| What you need | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Repeat one prerecorded video automatically as a scheduled YouTube event | Restream | Its native event loop can repeat a file up to 10 times, with a 40-hour maximum stream; looping is a paid feature on Marathon and Media add-on plans. |
| Schedule a prerecorded video to play once | Either | Both services document automatically starting a scheduled prerecorded broadcast. |
| Loop a short clip during a staffed live production | StreamYard | A clip in its active studio can repeat until someone manually stops it. |
| Keep a YouTube channel running continuously from uploaded videos in the cloud | StreamNeo | It is always on from the cloud, supports uploaded video up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. |
How Restream’s prerecorded loop works
Restream treats the upload as a scheduled prerecorded event, rather than as a clip being played inside a live production studio. In its prerecorded-event instructions, you choose or upload a video, enter event details, set the loop count, select destinations, and create the event. It can start automatically at the scheduled time, and YouTube is among the destinations for which Restream says you can create an event post in advance.
Restream’s looping help page, dated March 11, 2026, sets the practical boundaries: a video can play up to 10 times, and the total stream with looping can last no more than 40 hours. The repetitions form one event, not separate livestreams. Native looping applies to uploaded videos and stream recordings; playlists do not currently have the same loop control.
Plan and playlist limits
Restream lists looping as a paid feature available with its Marathon plan and Media add-on plans, so do not assume it is included in every Restream plan. Video streaming is available to all Restream users, but storage and video-size limits depend on the add-on tier. If you need a playlist rather than one file, the help page suggests duplicating entries (up to 40 entries) as a workaround. That repeats playlist items manually; it is not native playlist looping.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Restream’s broader Upload & Stream feature supports single videos and playlists, with uploads from desktop or mobile and imports through Descript, Google Drive, and Dropbox. Chat is available during the event. Those options do not change the distinction between a playlist and the separately documented loop control.
What StreamYard can and cannot loop
StreamYard supports scheduled prerecorded broadcasts. You can use a local upload or a previous StreamYard broadcast or recording, choose destinations, and set a date and time; the broadcast begins automatically. Its prerecorded-streaming guide says the broadcast ends when the selected video finishes. It does not document automatic replay of that scheduled video.

StreamYard does have a loop feature, but it belongs to a different workflow. In an active broadcast studio, a video clip added from the media assets tab can repeat indefinitely until manually stopped. That can be useful for a holding card or extended intro during a staffed production. It does not establish that a scheduled prerecorded broadcast will replay unattended. The video-clip loop instructions describe the studio control; they do not state its plan requirement.
Prerecorded-broadcast trade-offs
StreamYard says prerecorded broadcasts do not run through the studio. As a result, you cannot show comments on-stream or control overlays and media assets as you would in a standard live broadcast. Its documented file and plan limits include MP4 with H.264 video, upload bitrate up to 10 Mbps, and up to 1080p on paid plans. Maximum video duration is two hours on Core, four hours on Advanced, and eight hours on Teams or Business. Concurrent scheduling limits also depend on plan. These limits can change; confirm the current StreamYard help page before planning a long event.

StreamYard says prerecorded streams can be scheduled as far as 365 days ahead. That is a vendor-stated scheduling limit, not an indication that a stream can run for that duration. Its supported destinations page lists YouTube among its supported platforms.
Choose based on the event you actually need
Choose Restream for finite automatic replay
Pick Restream if the requirement is one prerecorded YouTube event that repeats while you are away, provided the event fits within 10 plays and 40 hours and you have a plan that includes looping. It is the more clearly documented choice for this specific use.

Choose StreamYard for a one-pass scheduled video or live production
Pick StreamYard for a scheduled prerecorded video that should play once, or for an attended studio broadcast where you want production controls and a clip that loops until you stop it. Do not rely on the studio clip-loop feature as a substitute for an unattended prerecorded event loop.

YouTube eligibility, copyright, and monetization
Scheduling or looping software does not grant rights to footage or music. YouTube’s livestream terms require compliance with Community Guidelines and the necessary rights for the livestream, including applicable music rights. Check licenses for every element of the recording before broadcasting, and do not assume a platform’s upload acceptance clears those rights.
Looping also does not ensure monetization. YouTube’s monetization policies say monetized content should be original and authentic; generic, mass-produced, or repetitive content may be ineligible. These policies apply to livestreams as well as other formats. Separately, YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
Common problems and what to check
- The scheduled video plays only once in StreamYard: this matches its documented prerecorded behavior. The studio clip loop is a separate, manually attended workflow; use Restream’s prerecorded-event loop for a finite automatic replay.
- The loop option is unavailable in Restream: check whether the account has the Marathon plan or a Media add-on that includes looping. The feature is not documented as available on every plan.
- A Restream playlist does not repeat: native playlist looping is not documented. Duplicate entries within the stated 40-entry workaround limit, or use a single video with the native loop setting.
- A StreamYard upload is rejected or exceeds limits: check that it is MP4 with H.264 video, stays within the applicable duration limit, and does not exceed the documented 10 Mbps upload bitrate. Confirm current plan limits in StreamYard’s help page.
- The stream cannot start on YouTube: verify that the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days; check destination selection and scheduled event details in the streaming service.
- The stream is interrupted or content is claimed: confirm the connection and event status, then review YouTube notices and the rights for the video and audio. Neither service’s loop control resolves a rights claim.
Or let it run in the cloud
For an ongoing YouTube stream made from uploaded recordings, StreamNeo’s workflow is: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it plays the uploaded video at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. In India, UPI works as well as cards; card checkout is available worldwide. Each slot includes 10 GB storage, pooled across active slots.
