Streamlabs says it renamed and expanded the premium subscription, and existing Prime subscribers were automatically moved to Ultra without a change to their billing cost or renewal date. For new subscribers, the practical comparison is between Streamlabs’ free tools and Ultra’s paid bundle: the plan you need depends on which apps and premium limits you actually use.
What changed from Prime to Ultra?
Prime was the former name for Streamlabs’ premium subscription. In its November 21, 2022 announcement, marked updated August 12, 2026, Streamlabs described Ultra as a “next-level creative suite” that adds pro versions of tools beyond streaming. The change was both a renaming and an expansion of the bundle, not a separate current plan called Prime. Streamlabs’ explanation of the Prime-to-Ultra change says existing Prime members were converted automatically, with their billing cost and renewal date unchanged.
That transition statement describes what happened to existing subscribers; it does not establish today’s price for a new Ultra subscription. Streamlabs’ current comparison is among Free, Ultra, and Ultra+, so the useful question now is whether Ultra’s bundle is worth paying for compared with the free tools or whether the more extensive Ultra+ limits are relevant.
What does Ultra add over Free?
Streamlabs’ current Ultra feature comparison describes the following examples. Plan limits and offers can change, so check the live plan page before subscribing.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

| Other creator apps | Free versions of several apps. | Pro features across tools including Cross Clip, Talk Studio, Video Editor, and Podcast Editor. |
These are Streamlabs-published plan details, not independent performance tests. The limits above are for standard Ultra: Ultra+ is a separate tier, not another name for Ultra. The current plan page lists Ultra+ with up to 30 active automations, 5,000 Sidekick interactions per month, and 30 GB cloud storage, along with additional support and success-contact benefits.
How much does Streamlabs Ultra cost?
Streamlabs’ official pages show different prices. Its Ultra landing page displayed “Starting at $15.75/mo” when accessed October 3, 2026; the Streamlabs FAQ, also accessed October 3, 2026, states “$27/month or discounted when billed annually at $189/year.” The reviewed pages do not explain the discrepancy, and a separate Streamlabs Desktop page showed a different annual figure. These amounts should not be treated as interchangeable or as a guaranteed current checkout price. Confirm the price, billing period, and renewal terms shown at checkout for the plan you are considering.

Should you choose Free, Ultra, or Ultra+?
Free is a sensible fit when
- You need basic streaming and do not currently need premium access to the larger tool suite.
- The free limits for overlays, automation, Sidekick, guests, and storage are enough for your workflow.
- You would rather add a paid bundle only after a specific limitation becomes a problem.
Streamlabs says its basic tools remain free, with Ultra optional. Its getting-started support page explains the free tools and Ultra distinction.

Ultra is worth comparing when
- You need a specific premium capability, such as multistreaming, full theme access, or the full Desktop App Store.
- You use several of the included creator apps, such as Cross Clip, Talk Studio, Video Editor, or Podcast Editor, and their pro features matter to your work.
- You are running into one or more stated Free limits and the Ultra allowance would address them.
Consider Ultra+ only for its additional limits or benefits
If standard Ultra’s listed limits are sufficient, the Ultra+ figures do not add a reason to choose Ultra+. Compare the higher automation, Sidekick, and storage allowances—and its additional support and success-contact benefits—with your actual needs, then confirm the current price for that tier.
A practical way to decide
- List the Streamlabs tools you use now and the features you need from each.
- Mark the free-plan limits that you actually reach or expect to reach soon.
- Compare those needs with standard Ultra’s stated features and limits; consider Ultra+ only if its higher limits or additional benefits matter.
- Check the checkout page for the exact tier, billing period, renewal terms, and price before paying.
Is Ultra the same product at the same price as Prime?
Ultra is the current name for Prime’s premium subscription, but Streamlabs says it expanded the bundle to cover premium features across a broader creator-tool suite. Existing Prime subscribers were automatically converted, with billing cost and renewal date unchanged according to Streamlabs. That does not mean the products’ feature bundles are identical, or that the old subscriber transition terms determine the price offered to new subscribers now.
