If your Streamlabs Talk Studio broadcast stays on “Starting,” first check whether the YouTube channel is eligible for Talk Studio and whether the right YouTube destination is connected and selected. Then check browser permissions, your connection, and YouTube Studio for an error or an already-active stream. The status alone does not identify one universal cause, so work through these checks in order.
1. Check YouTube verification and first-live requirements
Streamlabs’ Talk Studio guidance says a newly verified channel may take about 24 hours to complete verification. After verification, its documented setup sequence is to start an initial session in YouTube Studio using the built-in webcam, then wait 24 hours after that session before trying Talk Studio. Streamlabs recommends setting the test broadcast to Unlisted. These steps are for channels that have not completed the setup; an established channel should not assume it must repeat them.
- Complete YouTube’s channel verification flow if the channel is not verified.
- In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go-live > Right now > Built-in webcam and complete the initial live session. Set visibility to Unlisted for a test, as Streamlabs recommends.
- Wait 24 hours after that initial session before trying Talk Studio again.
Streamlabs describes this sequence in its Talk Studio Destination Troubleshooting and Talk Studio Streaming Destinations guides.
2. Confirm the YouTube account and destination
In Talk Studio, check that the intended YouTube channel is selected as the destination. Its workflow is to choose a destination, enter stream details such as title and description, then select Go Live. If several Google or YouTube accounts are signed in, verify that Talk Studio was authorized with the account for the channel you intend to use.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For multiple accounts, Streamlabs advises signing out of the relevant platform domain before adding a destination, so the intended account can be authenticated. See Talk Studio Getting Started and Talk Studio Streaming Destinations.
3. Check browser permissions and devices
Talk Studio runs in a browser and requests access to the camera and microphone. If no permission prompt appeared, open the site-permissions control beside the browser address bar, allow the needed access, and refresh the page. Then use Talk Studio’s camera and microphone menus to select the devices you actually want to use.

These checks address browser capture setup; they do not establish that a camera or microphone permission problem is the cause of every “Starting” hang. Streamlabs’ getting-started guide covers permissions and device selection.
4. Test upload capacity and connection stability
Streamlabs recommends a stable connection, preferably Ethernet. Its published upload targets, dated 2025, are guidance rather than a guarantee that a broadcast will start or a universal YouTube requirement:

| Stream setting | Streamlabs upload guidance (2025) |
|---|---|
| Minimum upload | 5 Mbps |
| 720p | 5 Mbps required; 10 Mbps recommended |
| 1080p | 10 Mbps required; 20 Mbps recommended |
Run an upload-speed check on the same connection used for the broadcast, and consider testing over Ethernet if both the computer and router support it. A speed result does not rule out intermittent connection trouble. Streamlabs’ Talk Studio Getting Started guide gives the published targets.
5. Look for a YouTube error or an active broadcast
Open YouTube Studio and check the live dashboard or event for an error, and confirm that an earlier broadcast was not left active. YouTube says a channel can have at most 10 active streams and a stream key at most 3; reaching either limit prevents another start. The limits and general diagnostics are in YouTube’s Get started with live streaming and Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream help pages.
