For a Streamlabs Mobile YouTube stream on a slow or unstable connection, start at 30 fps, choose a lower resolution such as 480p or 360p, and set maximum bitrate conservatively based on your stable upload capacity. Test with the same movement and audio you expect during the stream, then lower the output further if the test or YouTube’s stream-health indicator shows problems. There is no single setting that guarantees a stable stream on every phone or mobile network.
Start with a realistic upload-speed test
Download speed is not the figure to use when choosing a live-stream bitrate. Test upload speed on the connection you will actually use. YouTube recommends a speed test and advises matching stream quality to the available connection. A one-time result is only a snapshot: cellular signal, congestion and other devices sharing the connection can change the upload available while you are live.
- Test at the place and time you expect to stream, using the intended Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection.
- If other people or devices are using the same connection, account for that competing traffic. Streamlabs notes that shared network use can worsen streaming performance.
- Do not set the bitrate at the full result of a brief speed test. Leave headroom for fluctuations and repeat the test if conditions change.
Choose a conservative resolution, frame rate and bitrate
When bandwidth is limited, reduce output demands before trying to preserve image detail. Start at 30 fps and select 480p or 360p. YouTube’s encoder guidance lists a video-bitrate range of 0.3–3 Mbps for each of those resolutions at 30 fps. These are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that your phone or connection can sustain any particular value in the range.
| Output | YouTube-listed video bitrate | Practical use |
|---|---|---|
| 480p at 30 fps | 0.3–3 Mbps | Try when you want more image detail and your upload remains stable with headroom. |
| 360p at 30 fps | 0.3–3 Mbps | Try when the connection needs a lower-resolution picture; test whether the result is stable. |
| 720p at 30 fps | YouTube’s guide lists higher bandwidth requirements than for the lower-resolution rows; it does not establish a universal setting for a slow connection. | Usually not the first option to try when upload capacity is constrained. |
The cited bitrate ranges are from YouTube Help’s encoder guide, accessed in 2026; the page does not identify a publication year. Do not read the 0.3 Mbps lower bound as a recommended setting for every stream, or the 3 Mbps upper bound as safe on a weak connection. Choose according to sustained upload and the results of a representative test.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Change the relevant Streamlabs Mobile controls
Streamlabs says its Mobile Streaming Settings include output resolution, expected frame rate and maximum bitrate. Those are the first controls to adjust for limited upload. Menu labels and available settings can vary by app version, operating system and streaming mode.
- Open Streamlabs Mobile’s streaming settings and locate output resolution, frame rate and maximum bitrate.
- Set the frame rate to 30 fps and select 480p or 360p as your starting resolution.
- Set maximum bitrate within YouTube’s applicable range only if your tested, sustained upload has room to spare. If the stream is unstable, lower the bitrate or resolution and test again.
- Leave other camera, screen-capture and audio controls at suitable values for your stream; changing those controls does not substitute for testing upload capacity.
YouTube’s encoder guidance also recommends RTMP/RTMPS, H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. It specifies AAC or MP3 audio. Streamlabs’ mobile guide confirms the resolution, frame-rate and maximum-bitrate controls, but does not confirm that every advanced encoder setting is exposed in the mobile app. Do not assume you can configure each of these from Streamlabs Mobile.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Test before you go live and watch stream health
- Run a test stream using the same phone, connection, camera or screen mode, and approximate activity planned for the real broadcast.
- Include movement and audio similar to the actual stream; a static test image may not reveal how the intended stream behaves.
- If the test is unstable, reduce output demands—starting with bitrate or resolution—and repeat the test.
- During the event, monitor YouTube’s stream-health indicator and any messages. If health deteriorates, lower output settings if possible and check whether the network has changed or become congested.
Connection options and Network Boost
Use a stable Wi-Fi network when one is available, or test the mobile-data connection at the location where you will stream. Streamlabs describes Network Boost as using multiple connections to support a stream when Wi-Fi or cellular service changes. Availability and requirements can depend on the installed app and connection setup; check the feature in your own app rather than assuming it is available or will prevent drops. A phone tripod can help with hands-free framing, but it does not improve upload speed or prevent connection loss.
Troubleshooting a weak or unstable stream
| What you see | Likely issue | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Repeated buffering or poor stream health | The selected output bitrate may exceed the upload capacity available at that moment. | Lower the maximum bitrate, then reduce resolution if needed; test again. |
| A setting worked during a test but fails live | The test may not have reflected movement, audio, cellular variation or competing network traffic during the event. | Repeat a representative test and leave more upload headroom; reduce output demands. |
| Performance worsens when other devices are active | Shared network traffic may be reducing available upload. | Reduce competing use where possible, or try a different stable connection and test it at the stream location. |
| Wi-Fi or cellular conditions change mid-stream | The connection may be fluctuating or changing networks. | Check YouTube’s stream-health messages and your connection. If Network Boost is present and supported in your setup, check its configuration; do not rely on it as a guaranteed fix. |
| Video looks less detailed after reducing settings | Lower resolution trades image detail for a lighter stream; 30 fps also sends less-smooth motion than a higher frame rate. | Keep the lowest output that meets your needs reliably. Raise resolution or frame rate only after testing that the connection can sustain it. |
Copyright and YouTube live-stream rules still apply
Lowering resolution or bitrate affects delivery quality, not whether you have permission to broadcast the material. Before streaming, make sure you have the rights needed for music, footage and other content, and follow YouTube’s applicable live-stream rules. A technically stable connection does not establish that content is cleared for broadcast.
