For a 24/7 YouTube broadcast, OBS on a suitable desktop computer is the more practical choice than Streamlabs Mobile—but neither app guarantees uninterrupted streaming. Streamlabs Mobile is built around phone-camera and mobile-game streams; OBS is a desktop encoder suited to longer, more involved productions. If the stream uses prerecorded video and must keep running with your computer off, a cloud service is a different kind of solution.

YouTube supports mobile, webcam, encoder, and console streaming. Its guidance positions mobile for quick updates and encoders for gameplay, production overlays, and external hardware. OBS requirements vary with resolution, frame rate, encoder, and scene complexity, so basic computer compatibility alone does not show that a machine can sustain your particular stream.
When Streamlabs Mobile makes sense
Streamlabs Mobile is an iOS and Android app for streaming from a phone camera or mobile games, with scenes, overlays, alerts, and chat. Its product page lists support for iOS 14+ and Android 5.0+, as well as a free single-platform option; some features, including multistreaming and disconnect protection, are listed as Ultra features. Check Streamlabs’ current plan details before relying on a paid feature or price.
Mobile streaming has separate YouTube eligibility requirements. YouTube Help lists at least 50 subscribers, channel verification, no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days, and live streaming enabled. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Check YouTube Studio to confirm the channel can go live by mobile before preparing a phone-based broadcast. A phone power bank may help extend battery life, but it does not turn a mobile setup into a dependable unattended 24/7 system.

When OBS is the better of these two choices
OBS Studio is desktop software. It is the more suitable of these options when your production needs desktop scenes, overlays, gameplay capture, or external audio/video devices. YouTube describes encoder streaming as the route for advanced productions and directs creators to put YouTube’s stream URL and stream key into the encoder.
- Confirm the computer fits the production. Match its capability to the chosen resolution, frame rate, encoder, and scene complexity. OBS’s requirements depend on those factors; there is no single specification that guarantees adequate streaming capacity for every setup.
- Set up YouTube’s encoder connection. In YouTube’s live control room, obtain the stream URL and stream key, then enter them in the encoder’s streaming settings. The key routes the encoder feed to YouTube and is a credential: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to stream to the channel.
- Test the complete scene and signal. Check the intended video, audio, overlays, and stream accessibility before relying on a long event. Monitor the stream while it runs; testing reduces avoidable surprises but cannot guarantee continuous service.
- Keep a separate archive if the recording matters. Enable a local recording or another archive workflow and check that the local file is growing. YouTube recommends this backup rather than relying on a long live stream to become a complete archive.
Can YouTube archive a 24-hour livestream?
Do not assume it will. YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. For a 24-hour broadcast, arrange a local archive or another recording workflow and monitor the file during the event. YouTube also recommends checking stream accessibility and audio/video quality.

Keeping a prerecorded stream live when your computer is off
If your aim is to loop uploaded videos rather than broadcast a live camera or desktop production, that is a different workflow from either Streamlabs Mobile or OBS. YouTube’s verified-encoder page lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for continuous streaming of prerecorded video; that listing is not a guarantee of uptime or evidence about the performance, terms, or pricing of any service.

- Mobile live is unavailable: check YouTube Studio and confirm the channel meets mobile-live eligibility; first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- YouTube is not receiving the encoder feed: verify that the encoder has the correct YouTube stream URL and stream key. Treat the key as a secret and replace it if it has been exposed.
- The computer struggles during a stream: reduce production demands or reassess the computer against the actual resolution, frame rate, encoder, and scene complexity. A minimum compatibility requirement is not a performance guarantee.

What the comparison can—and cannot—tell you
The documented workflows support choosing OBS over Streamlabs Mobile for a desktop-based long broadcast, and choosing a cloud workflow when prerecorded video must continue without a home computer.
