What is the final season about?
Netflix’s official synopsis places the story in fall 1987, after the opening of the Rifts has scarred Hawkins. The group is seeking Vecna as the government quarantines the town and intensifies its hunt for Eleven. With the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaching, the synopsis says a final battle is looming.
In the promotional interview accompanying the trailer, co-creator Ross Duffer said the season begins “a little bit in chaos because our heroes ultimately lost at the end of Season 4.” He added: “But in this case, this season is sprinting from the start.”
