She said an announcement was expected soon, but the report did not name the RPG, its developer, platforms, or release date. The announcement-era sources available here do not establish what happened to the project afterward.
What Stephanie McMahon said about WWE 2K22 and the RPG
Fightful’s May 5, 2022 report reproduced comments from McMahon’s Q1 2022 earnings call. She praised the relaunch of WWE’s premium console game franchise, saying the company had worked with Take-Two Interactive and listened to players after taking more than a year off to improve the game engine.

McMahon also described WWE 2K22 as a commercial and critical success. She said it had the highest Metacritic scores on Xbox and PlayStation in the franchise’s history and had generated “over 5.6 million hours viewed on Twitch to date.” Both figures are her statements from the May 2022 call, as reported by Fightful—not current totals or independently supplied score data.

Her RPG remark was separate from the praise for WWE 2K22. The transcript reproduced by Fightful says “role-playing game place”; it does not attach the deal to the 2K22 game or its developer.

What is known about the WWE RPG
The May 2022 reporting establishes only that WWE had recently signed a deal in the RPG space and that McMahon expected it to be announced soon. It did not identify a game title, studio, platform, release window, or whether the project was intended for mobile or console. GameSpot noted at the time that its platform was still unknown.
Those reports do not establish whether the deal was later announced, released, changed, or discontinued. Without a later, reliable source, it is not possible to say whether the project is still happening. Nor is there enough information to compare it with other games or treat it as a confirmed product.

Do not confuse the unnamed WWE deal with WrestleQuest. Fightful discussed that wrestling-themed RPG separately and identified it as a Mega Cat Studios game outside WWE.

Unlike the unnamed RPG, WWE 2K22 was a released game. Take-Two and 2K said it launched on March 11, 2022, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The official announcement named Visual Concepts as developer and Rey Mysterio as the cover star, and described a redesigned engine and gameplay, new controls, updated graphics, and new modes.

MyGM
MyGM puts the player in the general manager role: choose a GM and brand, draft a roster, manage a budget, sign free agents, and book shows. Players can select match types and show logistics, use Power Cards and pursue Commissioner Goals, then play, simulate, or spectate matches. The mode frames the competition as a ratings battle against a rival GM, culminating at WrestleMania.
2K’s February 16, 2022 announcement said McMahon voiced the MyGM trailer. It listed Standard and Cross-Gen editions for March 11, while Deluxe and nWo 4-Life digital editions were scheduled for March 8. Those were the announced release dates and formats, not current offers.

Other modes
Official release material also listed 2K Showcase, MyFACTION, MyRISE, Universe, and Creation Suite. The announced modes belong to WWE 2K22; they do not identify the separate RPG deal McMahon mentioned.
