Neither account established a diagnosis or described treatment. WPDH noted that COVID cases had been reported among Eagles crew members, but said it was unclear whether Fagen had the same illness. Those reports do not establish a connection between the crew cases and Fagen’s hospitalization.

- October 10: WPDH and Exclaim reported Fagen’s release from hospital.
Steve Miller was scheduled to continue, with Vince Gill also set to open in Pittsburgh on October 15, according to the reports. WPDH and Exclaim provide the contemporaneous tour details.
Was Steely Dan’s November 2 return confirmed?
No. Both reports described November 2 in Atlanta as the planned date for Steely Dan to resume the Eagles tour. The available coverage establishes that this was the schedule announced at the time, not that the show ultimately took place. It also does not provide a later first-person account from Fagen about the illness.
